GLOCK OWNERS READ THIS
#21
It's gunman being stupid and trying to make a case about how great the 1911 is compared to the glock...I'm waiting for him to post the video of the DEA guy who shot himself...
Hey, might have to go pull up the video of tex grubner shooting himself in the leg with a kimber 1911.... After all it was a 1911 he shot himself with...so that just goes to show how dangerous the 1911 really is...
mexican carry is called mexican carry for a reason..and yep it will kill you...and as far as the leather holster, it was worn out & it was the owners fault for using a old worn out holster...where the leather had softened to the point of being dangerous...again noting to do with the pistol...
You can chalk up every single AD/ND to stupid human tricks, no gun will shoot you or anybody if a human is not involved...it's like saying a hammer will smash your thumb...cuz it does not have 3 safeties...

HOWEVER, they train daily...shoot more rounds in a month than gunmanwill in 5 years..and they shoot/train hard...
The 1911 was designed to be carried in condition one...that is the safest way, a empty chamber will get you killed...but it is a weapon that requires training..and not just playing on a range and then a skill set that the average gun owner does not have, or want to achieve...

Did I forget to mention.....in 1989 I saw my 1st 1911 ND/self inflicted gunshot...a Navy seaman guy shot himself in the thigh...accidentally while on the range qualifying on that weapon...
Was really rather cool....
Go navy

Accidental Discharge of a 1911 in a Thumb Break Holster..read the article...
Accidental Discharge of a 1911 in a Thumb-Break Holster
On January 19, 2008 I had a negligent discharge of my pistol. It's a Rock Island full size 1911.
My story -the leg wounds

Actually, I was referring to back when it was first introduced. Agreed, John browning had intended the 1911 to be carried in condition one, but all the "accidental" discharges involving it forced the military's hand into eliminating condition one carry some 90 years ago, at least in some regiments. Not sure when it was 'officially" reversed. Please don't ask for my source on this. I read it in one of the ump-teen articles the gun magazines were churning out for the 1911's 100th birthday.
