Interesting opinion on concealed carry handgun calibers.

Couple questions for you here Ramprat, if you don't mind. Why do you continue using the following terminology WRT the .40:
...while you simultaneously say things like:
...basically acknowledging they must all be at least comparable in some way? I mean, unless you are talking about measuring shock waves in ballistic gelatin, comparing muzzle velocity numbers, etc. etc., what's the big deal?
You seem somehow biased against this round, like maybe somehting happened to you with a .40 at some time in your past that caused you to develop what seems like this great hatred for a simple pistol bullet.
And last but not least: What do you prefer, and why?

Some pistol calibers are more equal than others, ya need to compare them to the same class. Comparing a 380 to a 45ACP is silly, but comparing a 9mm, 40S&W, 357 Sig, 10mm and 45ACP is not silly.
When you compare the 40 to the other pistol calibers in it's class (with other calibers that are close and used in the same ways) they are all aboout the same & are all more or less comparable and it's not like comparing apples to pink grapefruit...The pistol is a defensive weapon, used to fight your way to your shotgun/rifle.....
have nothing against teh 40 except it's not the magic bullet, is not a death ray & it's not better or stands out excels over the 9mm, 357 sig, 357 magnum, 45 ACP, 10mm and as such is just another pistol caliber in a long line of other calibers where some are "better" than others.
It's subjective and not objective.
I personally carry 38spl, 9mm, 357 Sig and .45 ACP just depending on dress, where going and other factors.
Have seen/dealt with pure evil, the kind of evil that makes one cry and whimper, evil that gives warriors nightmares, the kind of people that do not care, have no feelings, enjoy watching others suffer & would rather slit a kids throat and drink the blood than drink a grape sodey pop....It's hard to describe the depth of evil/hate, it's not like your typical "tough guy" gang banger in South Central LA or Detroit, those are kids compared to pure evil...
At that time the 125gr 357 Sig was my daily carry and all I could think of was how I wanted a 45 ACP...How John M Browning did it right and that Gods choice of a defensive handgun is the 45 ACP....
If I know I'm going in harms way and stuck with a pistol the 45 ACP is the caliber of choice for me....

Yep, it's what it is, it's shorter and weaker than some rounds & not as short and not as weak as others...But S&W named it the 40 S&W and so it's short and weak....

Don't forget your the one who said you would shoot me at 600 yards and I'd never hear it...So you can talk **** about killing me, but get all butt hurt and start whining and crying about "personal attacks" when your comb over is mentioned... Sorry your so sensitive about your comb over & that you can dish it out, but can't take it.
However, you still ain't contributing anything to this thread other than how great a gator killer you are, that the 40 short and weak is great round to kill gators with, your XD had lots and lots of kills and that you can take me out and I'll never know it...

You might want have a glance at this article before condemming the .40 any further:
Talk:.40 S&W - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The .45 and .40 are not really all that far apart to make it even worth arguing about.
BTW, Smith & Wesson never named it anything other than the .40 S&W. The derrogatory terms like slow & wimpy, short & weak came from people that ignored the facts and loved their .45's too much.

Ummmm since when is Wikipedia fact based data, anybody can go in and post what they want and change things around....
S&W named it the 40 S&W and thus it's the Short and Weak....it's shorter and weaker than the 45....Don't see many high speed low drag kind of military guys who's lived depend on what and how they shoot carry a 40 S&W now do you, what is the overwhelming caliber of choice for military and high speed LEO shooters.....
And again, what have I been saying about pistol cartridges.....and the 40....it does NOTHING special, does not shine above any other cartridge and is comparable to every other pistol cartridge in the same "class" and it was designed from the ground up to be a compromise between the 10mm, the 45ACP and the 9mm....
