Independence Day Holiday Schedule
#2
PS: we're open! :)
Hope everyone had a great holiday & enjoys our 4th of July photos. Each July we like to remember another summer day in July when the earth moved and the entire world looked up.
In the firing room, the candles were lit on a 6 million pound machine made entirely in the U.S.A. It was named Apollo 11 and it's 5 engines produced 7 million horsepower & 7.8 million pounds of thrust. Its 3 stages contained the crew of 3 (Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin & Michael Collins) and 3 more space craft known as modules. As most know, the flight of Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the moon. The lunar module Eagle separated from the command module Columbia for lunar landing on 7-20-69.
This year we decided to remember when 3 of our own left in fire for the moon and safely returned on fire @ 25,000 m.p.h., along with the July 4th celebration of Independence day.
Earlier this year project Constellation which was to return man to the moon to build a permanent station to replace the expensive to maintain International space station was canceled. The space shuttle was scheduled to retire this year, leaving us with a space station we can't get to....
These photos are a tour de force of horsepower with purpose. Apollo 11's roll out: 6 million pounds on the back of a diesel powered crawler transporter. Last: a close up of the multi engined diesel powered crawler transporter. With the much smaller shuttle on board, (75% smaller & lighter than Apollo 11) the unique 1 of a kind diesel powered transporter nearly rivals it's payload in size & weight. Enjoy extreme Diesel engine fans.
