Default Water Pump Replacement

Could you guys get me a price quote for a water pump for my 2004 Ram 2500, please? The dealership wants to charge me $300 for one. Its over heating and the fan clutch isnt bad and I have changed the thermostat. I got the Thermostat from NAPA though and I dont know if they are very good or not. My problem is, coolant is not being taken from the resivor and its not cycling through the system. Thanks for the help!

Any Antifreeze smell out the exhaust?

Water pumps are being more and more common on the 3rd gen trucks! Dosent look like theres enough mod's to even question a head gasket! It's extremely rare to see a head gasket fail under factory conditions. Most times caused from Overheating due to a water pump! Probably around 54.00-60.00 plus shipping! Limited lifetime warranty!

No there is no smell from the exhaust. It just does not circulate the coolant. Last night I put the coolant in the resivor and it stayed full even after I drove it. Then when I woke up and looked at it this morning the resivor was almost empty. Im not sure what to think...

I just replaced the water pump on my 2004. Was completely stock with only 65000 miles.
I did a pressure test on it and once it got up to pressure everything started pouring out the back of the pump. A new pump is about $60 and a reman is about $50. I picked mine up from autozone...

Senders can go bad too so...simple test...while the truck is cold take the radiator cap off and make sure the radiator is full then start the truck and race the engine at a couple thousand rpm. Then you just watch the coolant through the cap opening. If the pump is good then you should see coolant flow through at some point, otherwise you wont. just keep an eye on the temp gauge too just in case

Ok I will try it out tomorrow when I get my check. Then I will watch it. Can it hurt your engine to run straight coolant or do you want that half water mix? Just asking because it came with a red colored coolant when I bought it.

Get rid of that extended life, But you'll need to run straight water through it a few times to flush it out. 50/50 mix is required. You might check your local parts store, They'll have a 50/50 blend!

Ok I will hurry and so that soon and then get a 50/50. What do you say to getting a water pump from autozone or NAPA? Are they just as good or would you suggest I order one from you? Im on a tight time frame so if I can go here and get one a lot sooner it would benefit me. Thanks for all the help.

Common rails require a HOAT formula. Don't screw around and chance a coolant system failure from running the wrong coolant. Get 4 gal of distilled water and 4 gals of Mopar coolant and flush the system.
