Ok well I am looking to by my first powerstroke but I have looked at many over the years and I use to own an old 84' military k-5 with the 6.2 in it, plus I was a diesel mechanic in the military for almost 14 years but it has been several years since I have touched one. Here it is it is a 97' f-250 crew cab auto 4x4 and the odometer is showing like 352,xxx or something like that. Today is the first time I looked at it and after the wait light went off it fired right up and idled good and revved up good didn't get to drive because the had some stuff in the bed of it. Popped the hood and I was trying to see if there was a way if I can see if it has been rebuilt or not because I don't want to get one and then turn around and sink all that time and money that I don't currently have to fix. I guess what I am asking is if someone could give me some pointers on what to look for so I can try and see if I am getting something worth a damn or not, because I know nothing about a powerstroke yet.
