Hood Stack
#11
Lol I know but as far as I'm concerned the EPA can kiss my I would prolly put it on my 12v and drag it and pull it all the time and get rid of the 12" stack i have now.... Is there any possiblity that you guys could make a 8" hood stack

How about a 2 piece down pipe on th ecummins so that when you want the hood stack all you have too do is take the DP apart with a band clamp at the break, lossen the V-Band clamp and rotate it up. Otherwise you have to remove the whole down pipe so that it is not in the way of the hood stack or banging off it. Might as well make it work to your advantage.
Oh and I would SO run one on the 1st gen

Hood Stack UPDATE
Well after a 2 month or so back burner stay...the hood stack project has now got the green light to go. I was granted the go ahead to day to have a proto type of the mounting plates to be built. Once these are done, we will build a proto type of a stack for test fitting purpose's. Once that is done we move on to production. With that in mind I have SEVERAL important questions that need to be discussed.
1.) Stack Length What is the ideal height most of you looking for? 12", 15", 18"? We will offer what ever the majority says they will need or run. Also they will either be Miter Cut...or Straight Cut.
2.) Mounting Plate Material We need to know what kind of material to build these plates out of. The proto type will be built out of what ever material they have laying around...but the finished product we need to know what you all think. Aluminum? Issue with that is Aluminum can corrode when put next to different types of metal. BUT it would be extremely light, which in racing is very important. Stainless Steel? This would be heavier, but will not have an corrosive reaction. Any idea's or thoughts on this would be great.
3.) Stack Diameter Now I do not see anyone wanting a 4" hood stack, but ya never know. As of right now we are set to build a 6" proto type, with a 7" to be built after all the R&D is done on the 6" one. Is there a need for a 5" version or no?
As always thank you for all your feedback..we want to make sure that when we build this system, it is what the USER wants. I appologize for the delay in this set up, but that's how it goes sometimes. At any rate, I look forward to the discussions.

I think 12" will be enough. Althouh if you were to put the "flare" on the mounting piece (not th echrome part) would this not allow you to ship a 18" and allow the end user to cut it down to what size they want?

Were is the plate going? You talking about the plate on the back the turbo? if it is going to be a "hot" part (such as bolted to the turbo) I would want a steel that is similar to the turbo so that they dont expand at different rates and cause cracking issues. If its a "cold" part... Aluminum all the way.

As for diameter of stack, i would go with 6" or 7" due to the fact u want the pipe from the turbo to go inside of that, and some guys are running twins which have a 5 inch DP. just my 2 cents.
as for height, i vote for 15". and flat cut.
Plate, either aluminum or stainless.
If possible would u make them black powdercoated? I.E. stack and plate? i got a lot of black on my truck plus u wouldn't have to clean it as often
ill be waiting to purchase one of these bad boys
