How about the 6-speeds? I found one for a good price but I don't know how well they hold up. With a good clutch, are they as good as a nv5600 would?

Autos will hold about 275-300 for the most part. Get a tranny gauge and live by it.

Manuals are good to about 450-500 or so with the proper clutch.

Automatics...

Good solid TC will help, good clutches as well... Stock hard parts are good to about 400 or so... I have eaten 6 auto trannys... Broken a forward drum and intermediate support... never a shaft yet.

After 450-500 you should have billet shafts or hardened shafts.

Really, if your going to mess with a 4r100, just get a BTS tranny and never look back.

Manuals...

Shafts are about the only thing. I have seen stocker hold 600+ with good clutches.

The 4r100 auto is junk past stock HP, A good TC and Shift kit and maybe some better clutches would be ok. But if you want to hold over 350hp spend the money and build it correct.

The ZF6 (what I have now since I swapped it in place of the junk auto I had) will hold 600+ hp. Only thing you have to do is get a good clutch and watch how you shift it or the syncros can out out.

Stock internals are you talking motor or trannys?

Motor with PMR's... Its a crap shoot... There are a few things you can do with a PMR motor to help it live, good tuning without tons of advanced timing. Small Nozzles if you go with injectors. large exhaust housing to let the motor move air...

Some go at 300hp, some hold up to 450+... Bets are on a PMR motor poping at 375-425...
