How can you tell if you have one of the composite rod motors? I honestly would only go to about 300-325.

Your 2000 should have forged... There is an inspection port on the drivers side... I have to go dig up the link that shows you...

7.3 Inspection Hole for Powdered Metal Rod Determination

99-2000 SD had Forged rods, 2001-2003 had PMR's... Forged good, PMR bad...

my question to that is why did they go to a less durable rod? semms like a odd choice for international. are they fine at stock levels or are they a risk after so many miles?

Several reasons... The PMR is lighter, and quieted the motor a bit, and at stock HP levels they are fine.

There is nothing wrong with a PMR rod if it is designed that way from the get go, but they used the exact same design for the forged as the PMR...

6.0's and 6.4's are running PMR's without issues (rod wise)

Yes, with the correct tuner...

Power Hungry Performance, Total Diesel Performance, Gear Head Performance, Swamps, Beans, Diesel Inovations... Those are some of the best.
