Default Starting a 7.3 2000 van after three years?

I have to get a 2000 7.3 van back into service. It has been idle for three years. What steps do I take before attempting start up? The fuel gauge shows 1/3 tank of fuel. Batteries take a charge but are not strong on test gauge, but I have access to a 50 AMP booster. Is it safe to use ether?

Never use either unless you disconnect the glow plugs. Just go out and try to start it.

make sure it has oil too. I always fill it up with fresh oil. and make sure theres not a rats nest in the filter.
