Default Additional (home made) Anti-Theft ignition interupt switch?

I had another ford years ago and the guy who sold it to me had installed a ignition main wire interrupt switch. Basically he had added an additional anti-theft switch that he had to step on (hidden under drivers side carpet) in order to start the vehicle. I wanted to do that to my present 2002 F350, I really liked that option. I got a spring loaded switch at radio shack and wanted to wire it (inline) to the ignition wire. Has anyone tried this and if so where would I find the ignition wire to insert the switch?

Thanks in advance.

Opps, did I ask a sinful question? Not much interest in additional anti-theft devices I'm guessing?

nah not much people have installed one by our-self im about to get mine done at freeman's audio shop with a viper anti theft system in my truck. look online for a wiring diagram we might have one on here in the top part of the forums maybe wrong but if your going to put a switch put a manual switch under the rear seat or in a random spot. if you put it under the floor mat chances are someone is going to step on it and get it started

Get a multi-meter and use google to get the wire colors of your specific year and verify with the multi-meter. Once you do that install it.

The common why these trucks are stolen (that Ive heard of anytwasy) is to try a hotwire under the dash by yanking down the ignition wires at the bottom of the column so make sure you're down line from there for the starter interupt. If it was me, Id tap into the feed to the idm and do a toggle somewhere since then theres absolutely no way to start it, even if they arc the starter dirrect but then again I want an anti-theft that keeps them out a my truck completely. My doberman seems to work quite nicely.

yeah anti thief switch would be my last line of defense the problem with these old fords is the door handles. my truck got broken in two times before nothing was stolen just some kids trying to get fast cash but i ran across this a while ago and im about to put this in my truck. also you might want to look at viper security systems they make a great security i think they also come with an anti start feature on it not sure
