Yeah I have seen good deals on the delete kits but how hard are they to instal. I'm pretty mechanic savy grew up with a father who raced stocked cars and used to work on everyone's cars after school and at dodge dealership for a while. Just never a diesel. Will need to get an sct tuner too. What they running on a good day.im pretty cheap but what my wife doesnt know won't hurt her. Lol

EGR delete your first time will definitely take a whole day. My first one took like 12 hours. It's not difficult, but very time consuming. You can cut that at least in 1/2 after you do a couple. First time is always the longest. Save it for a weekend and make sure you have someone to help you, much easier with two guys.
SCT with custom tunes is like $425. You can find the tuner itself cheaper, but if you buy the unit right from the guy writing the tunes, they throw the tunes in for free.
You can also try and find a used X-cal2 or X-cal3 on the boards, save some money there, then just buy tunes as you need.

Neither, you call up one of the top name tuners and tell them what you want, they'll ship you the SCT, you plug it into your truck when you get it and record down the "strategy code" that it reads. Send the code back to your tuner (whoever you choose) and they will build tunes based off of your strategy, then email them to you. SCT has free software on their website for transferring the tunes to your SCT device, then just go out to the truck, plug it in, load em up, roast the tires.
Sounds more complicated than it is...

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Most of the time it should work like you're saying, but I'd hate for the OP to be one of those rare cases and come back looking for blood cause we told him it wouldn't, you know?
In most cases it's also a good idea to leave the EGR plugged in regardless, even if it's not mounted into the intake. Some strategies require it to be there, or the fan will never kick on.
