Default 700 miles... first issue

So lately i have been noticing when i give the truck 3 quarters throttle of more... it hesitates real bad... then takes off... i thought nothing of it, i thought the turbo just spooled slower compared to the cummins.. but today i floored it and it hesitated real bad then took off 2 min later i pulled up to a light and it started lopeing the light turned green.. i gave it some gas and nothing... the truck was idling but the pedal was dead... i hit the gas pedal and it wouldnt gain any rpm. i shut the truck off.. and now it wont start. i think it is a lift pump, but not sure. i had it towed to ford (under extended warrenty) but i am guessing lift pump. when i turn the key the pump doesnt cycle like it used to.. anything else it could be? i will let yall know when ford lets me know.

truck had fuel filters 2 days after i bought it (a month ago... or 3-4 hundred miles)

and i know i am about to hear a ton of 6.0 jokes,,, but my cummins has left me stranded too..... several times in the last 8 years of owning it.

Sounds like fuel delivery issue to me, not terribly uncommon for a fuel pump to die like that I guess.

The hesitation and then taking off though... was it dumping any smoke when this was happening? That sounds more like a sticky turbo or a clogged EGR valve.

no smoke at all. it was like a dead pedal for a second or so.. then it would take off.

Definitely sounds like a lack of fuel. Might not hurt to get a fuel pressure gauge hooked up, VERY important on a 6.0.

I just ordered a cst monitor and I'm gonna get the fuel pressure adapter for it. I will let y'all know as soon as the dealership calls me. Seems like a lift pump to me, but we will see.

Good to hear! Any plans where you're going to mount the CTS yet?

I want the windshield mount, I don't really like pillar mount, those are the only 2 options I have seen for the cst

Well just heard from the dealer. Fuel pump is shot. Only pushing 11PSI. The turbo is junk and the Vgt module is bad and so is the harness. Tech said there is a updated harness that needs to be put on the Vgt module. Total cost....$3775!! Thank god for warrantys!

I was going to say, tell them go F themselves with that. Obviously the pump needs replacement, so go for it.

I would just recondition the turbo if you ever need to, that's a lot of money!

Glad you're getting it fixed!
