Its a really simple job and most the kits come with a step by step directions. It would take less time if you found someone near you that has done it but doing it yourself should be alright and people on here can answer any questions you have while doing it. good luck

I hate even saying I'm close. EGR delete's are the opposite of fun haha. I am close though...

You will most likely need an SCT with a custom tune that has the EGR function disabled. Typically 03/04 trucks wont throw a check engine light and typically 05+ will.

It is way time consuming your first time. I think my first one or two took almost 12 hours. You will definitely want an extra set of hands around to help for sure. Things that also saved me a ton of time are having a spare intake manifold ready to go all cleaned out. Also make sure to get intake manifold gaskets. They say they are reusable, but I've found on some higher mileage trucks that they are not. They're cheap, just replace them anyways.

What kit are you going with? I went with a River City Diesel one myself, got if for $185 shipped on ebay, and I believe you can get them even cheaper now.

They're all nuts and bolts man, and if you think you're going to jump into any diesel and start modifying it and not have to touch anything, it's just not true. We have to do head studs and egr deletes, while others are doing full built transmissions just to hold a tuner... some see it as a downfall, but honestly anyone pushing any more power in ANY truck is doing studs at some point...

What else do you have done to the truck? How many miles on it? We can help you get that thing running like a top and make it RELIABLE in the mean time. A coolant filter should be at the top of your list of things to get on there too.

mdub it has 178k on it. I have done all the injectors oil and egr cooler last winter, I know i should have just did this then but i didn't and kick myself now. The only upgrades are mbrp 4" turbo back, afe cold air intake and 35 toyos on 08 f350 20" wheels. I use it for work everyday its either pulling a trailer of some sort all summer and pushing snow all winter. I have had 7.3"s in the past with no problems but its a truck and its worked so I know there will be issues at some point, I just want to eliminate the common ones with it.
