Default Might be time for a new tranny

Well after the hg job truck was running rough. Kept playing with the tuning and it started running pretty well then one day i was driving and heard a loud pop and now my truck wont go into any gear but first. My turbo pressure is staying at zero and my truck wont speed up past 20 mph. Is it time for a new tranny or could the problem be a lot simpler? Going to put it in the shop when i get home just trying to get an idea on the damage. Also no trouble codes on the sct either

Where did the pop come from? Does the truck move forward in that gear? Can you feel the shift cable moving, or does it feel like there's nothing there when you move the shift column?

Pop sounded like it came from underneath the truck. the truck will move in reverse and forward but will not go more than 20 mph or change gears when i get going.

I would say the loud pop was a intercooler boot blowing and that is why you are reading "0" for boost, it will run like crap without the boost. Check out all your boots to make sure none are torn, also if you have the plastic drivers side pipe check that too because they blow too.

any reason why that would keep me from going to second gear? or going faster than 20mph?

Yeah, no power to get there. Is it smoking black at all? I was thinking in the back of my head intercooler boot, but thought no way when you described the trans issues.

I would think if you had real trans issues it wouldn't even be moving.

Pop the hood and look, it might just be that simple.

When it made the pop, how were you driving? Were you rolling into it pretty good? I had my stock torque converter crap out on me, it was more of a "clunk" than a pop...

No but it would explain the no boost showing, how fast were you going when it popped? were you jumping on it , letting off quickly ? or just normal driving.

I was going pretty slow around 30 and not hitting it hard at all trying to get the tranny to learn the new tune. And yes its dumping black smoke. I just heard the pop and got frustrated and walked away for a while. I was hoping it was something simple since i could still move forward and reverse.

glad it was something simple, clean it off with brake clean, let it dry then reinstall, if it happens again I have heard of people using hair spray to keep it in place, it works.
