squeaking from left rear wheel
Okay so this isnt anything needing mass attention, as it has been going on for about 3-4 months periodically. my rear driver side wheel squeaks as it turns when coasting (probably does when accelerating just cant hear it over the exhaust) and it has been driving me CRAZY!!!
i checked the wheel bearing, and its not a typical wheel bearing 'roar' and theres no play in the wheel at all side to side or up and down. it did this for a few weeks, then quit for a month, then did for a few weeks and quit for 3 weeks, now its doing it again. i dont know what could cause it... ive looked over everything carefully. could it be something wrong with the axle? im lost trying to find it

It started as an odd, speratic, 'I think she's crazy but I'll say I hear it anyway' noise in the wife's Jeep Liberty. One day we did a low power on jacks and determined it was coming from the right rear caliper, changed pads and sure enough, excessive wear compared to the left side. A week later, the Liberty is an hour away from home with a dragging, almost siezed caliper!
I strongly recommend checking the left/right wear of our pads, if the suspect side is worn more, you know what you have to do.

thanks for the info guys! i will get the tire off and see what it could be tomorrow morning. drove about an hour today and it was all winding roads, so it squeaked the WHOLE way. never even thought of the dust shield or a difference in wearing of the pads. i will check both of these and let you know what i find out.
