Brakes

Never done one on a half ton or one ton. Done them on a 90's ranger about a month ago it wasn't hard but it weren't easy either and we replaced tie rod ends track bar. Two people took us almost a full day like 9-5 but that's 20 years of road grime and rust we were fighting. Getting the ball joints themselves in and out was quite simple. It was everything else. We actually to the spindles off for more room. As for your brakes id just go to napa or wherever and get the parts yourself and you could have it done in an afternoon. All you need is a few sockets or box ends a sledge hammer and elbow grease.
Oh and if your gonna replace one side might as well do both sides.

I just had balljoints done cause I didn't feel like dealing with it. Ford quoted me $930 or so to buy and install ball joints. I had it done at a local garage with a bunch of other crap and paid like $800 with the high end Napa joints.
As for brakes, I can't ever seem to get them to last, the pistons always crack in my calipers and make the pistons stick, so the pads wear out ridiculously fast.
I've used the Napa stuff, it seems ok. This time I'm going with power slot cryo rotors and Hawk LTS pads. Lot more money, but hoping I can stop a lot quicker with the camper hooked up. For the ultimate in stopping power, SSBC calipers. I just can't justify the $1500 or whatever it is for the front pair. 8 piston calipers though.

I can't get more than 40K out of my front rotors/pads. Getting tired of it, I'm thinking it's time to drop some cash on EBC or something. Clearly these Cirlce K Auto Parts pads/rotors aren't cutting it for me.
Ball joints aren't too bad. I did a YouTube search and found some good, insightful how-to DIY videos. If I had to do it again, I'd take the knuckles to the machine shop and pay those guys to press them out/in. THe wife and I used our club's press, not exactly a bonding moment.
IMO, if you're gonna do the left, may as well do the right. I only needed lowers, but did all 4. I paid about $200 from Rock Auto for Moog Problem Solver ball joints.
Use the DB search, I did a breif narrative recently about how to do ball joints.

Yes. Use MOOG replacement parts best there is. We took the spindles and put them in a vise and used a ball joint press kinda like a huge c clamp but with different size sockets for sufferer vehicles ball joints. Took 15 min a side to pop em out pop em back in and put spindles back on.

i changed the left front rotor and pads and the rear left rotor and pads
at the same time i rotated the tires on the left
Next week i will change the right side and rotate the right tires
The rotors were hard to get off
needed a sledge hammer
putting back on i put a little anti sieze on the hub...
