Default problems with 6.0

Have a 2004 ford f350 with early 6.0. Just bought truck, and it would not start hot. Replaced hpop- egr delete and went back with oil cooler replaced batteries. Now cannot get truck to start. Sounds like it is trying, but will not fire.

new codes reads p0098-iat sensor 2 ckt high- p0113 iat sensor 1 ckt high-p0672,po674,po676,po678 which are glow plug heaters in cylinder of last number. u0105 lost comm with inj cntrl mod and last one u0306 sftwr incompatible injector control mod.

does the u0306 means my scanner? The glow plug heaters were on the code read out before I replaced the other items.

when I quit turning motor it sounds like presswure being released some where.

Any one have any idea? Do I have to purge air from fuel and if so how?

thanks

Sounds like the FICM has lost communication.

Did you fill the HPOP reservroir up with oil before replacement? It's not imperitive that you do, but it will take a lot longer to get it to fire if you didn't. It needs to bleed the air out of the high pressure oil system. How long do you think you've tried cranking it? I've seen some take a few minutes or more of solid cranking before firing.

With your scanner can you monitor OBD functions? If you can, you should monitor ICP desired, ICP actual, and IPR % duty cycle.

I would pull the IPR and inspect it. If the hpop died, it probably sent crap all into the IPR. Even still I've read about 1/2 cases after a new hpop install, the IPR had to be replaced again, even if it was new just before. Probably worth pulling it out to check it out.

The lost communication bothers me. That would certainly cause a no hot start. The FICM is the silver box on the drivers side valve cover, make sure those three large plugs are pushed in really well.

The glow plug godes probably mean a busted wiring harness on that side, or the glow plug control module is shot. I have the specs for the resistance so you can check the plugs and the module if you want.

Default power stroke 6.0

No I did not fill the resovir for hpop. I did clean the two sensors with electrical cleaner.
I have probably tried to start maybe 5 0r 6 min in short bursts.
Please send the readings for the glow plugs.
It doesn't look like I can take the irp out with out taking turbo off. Is there any way to purge the air from the hpop and the fuel?
The fuel pump runs for at least 2 mins when the key is turned on. It should not run that long should it?
thanks

The pump just runs until you turn the key or let it sit, that's not an issue. You could always test fuel pressure. My guess is you don't have high pressure oil right now. You're probably not getting any smoke out the exhaust right? Meaning the injectors are not firing.

If you had a scanner you could hook up you could watch ICP actual against ICP desired and IPR duty % to see if it's getting high pressure oil or not.

I've heard it takes quiet a bit to get them going after you service the high pressure oil system and even more if you do an HPOP and don't fill it. It may take a while to get it going.

I have the readings for the glow plugs at work, I'll have to get them tomorrow. Other than that, I know I've posted it here at some point too...

Here's a Ford step by step procedure on what to check with a hard/no start condition. It has the testing requirements for the glow plugs in it as well. You'll see at some point it tells you to test the ICP with a scanner...
