Just start calling me Mr. DIY! Lol.
After much desire to do it myself and browsing around online here is the process to eliminate your key in/key acc chime when the door is open.
Required:
-Phillips Screwdriver
-Electrical tape
-Test light/small nail/anything with a reasonably sharp tip
-1 beer (seriously, if you have time for more than 1 beer then you are working ENTIRELY too slow and cutting into beer time)
-About 5 minutes
-Knowledge of how to use everything listed
First off you will need to take off the tilt steering handle (it'll take a little muscle but is just threaded in)
Next you will take the bottom plate of the steering column via 3 Phillips screws
Now is where whatever pointy thing you grabbed comes in (I used a test light), put the key in the ignition and turn it ON (or start it, I really don't care), push the little ball bearing in and wiggle the cylinder out...and in and out and in and out and in and out... back on subject
You will be left with this. If you look close you can see the metal contacts both on the cylinder and inside the ignition (PS if you forget to put this back together when you're done I can start your truck with a screwdriver...I mean uh um )
Reach in and pull the little connector with the contact out of the ignition and do with it as you please. I simply taped mine and tucked it up into one of the voluminous (big boy word ) voids in the steering column in case it ever needs to be connected again (God only knows why someone would want to, but I HATE cutting wires unless absolutely necessary just in case it has to be reversed)
Now button everything up and enjoy the silence or having your stereo on without the DING DING DING of the door being open. Hopefully you've had at least one laugh.
BTW I was just kidding about me starting your truck with a screwdriver, I would never do that to a fellow diesel owner, let alone a bomber.

HeavyAssault is right, it messes with that auto-lock feature doing it this way. Not the end of the world, just as long as you know this going in. I think if you try to lock it with anything BUT the key-fob, the door will automatically unlock itself. You HAVE to use the key-fob to lock the doors.

One method the dome lights never work again, and the other method the door locks don't work properly without the key fob, so each has their downfall I suppose.
Anyone thought about trying to find the chime piece itself? Is it some sort of a speaker or something? What is actually dinging? Can't we bust that piece up?

As far as I know it is actually inside the gauge cluster. I always lock with my fob or for key pad anyway so I'm not concerned, the auto lock still works at 10mph so I'm happy. You know start puzzles me, there are countless online sources to eliminate the seat belt buzzer with the programming mode of the ignition (when legal and safety repercussions are possible), yet programming that has no effect on the truck like the door chime has not been figured out. I think Ford should sell a book that has every programming sequence in it
