Default on the road, need quick help

Just threw p012f code. After looking through threads I see its related to rot/ect difference. This looks to be correct as guages are showing 25 difference. I'm 4hrs from home. Can I drive it? Also, i had flush scheduled for this coming week. U think that will be sufficient? Or should I have new cooler put in?

were you towing or going up a good hill when code showed up or normal driving? you should be fine to get home and a replacement is probably needed now, once these things are clogged they are "done", it's not like calcium buildup or rust buildup, it's sand and no chemicals are going to get rid of it and it has been packing itself in there for as many miles you have on the truck.

Yeah I'd drive it. Oil cooler rebuild kit is ~$235 from Tousley Ford. If you want to do it yourself...

Otherwise yeah, definitely get it replaced. Good time to do a coolant flush anyways to clean the rest of the system out, and yeah get a coolant filter on there. Either Dieselsite sells them, or MKM customs. There are a few other companies out there now too.

Well I'm sure they mark it up... you could buy the oil cooler rebuild direct much cheaper... Tousley Ford Parts Depot and the P/N is 3C3Z-6A642-CA (I see they went up in price too, they're $250ish now)

As for EGR delete setups, there are a ton of different ways to do it. Prices range from a couple bucks with welding freeze plugs in the stock cooler, up to $1200 for a full on race intake manifold with everything deleted. I bought a River City Diesel kit from ebay for $185 shipped. It comes with a new solid up-pipe, egr valve block off plate, all the gaskets/o-rings/hardware and a free t-shirt. I've seen them even cheaper since then. That style kit is the most common and there are a million different companies making them.
