Overhead CB

Overhead CB
I currently have my CB mounted on my dash (and hate it there but literally have nowhere else to mount it, can't do the lower dash because my shifter will hit it), I am interested in mounting it up right above my mirror but don't want to completely tear down my headliner to figure out how to have a solid mount that can hold the weight (Cobra 29 LTDBT). Anybody have their CB mounted there or have any ideas?

In my '86 Bronco, I had the visor shelf and mounted the CB in it.

With my '95 Ram, I made a bracket that mounted under the headliner and screwed the CB mount to the bracket thru the headliner.
For my SuperDuty, I just have it under the dash by the bag hook.

In the dodge, dropped the headliner, a homemade bracket got bolted to the metal roof, reinstalled headliner, and bolted CB bracket to homemade bracket thru the headliner. All the support is on the homemade bracket, the headliner is just sandwiched and no weight is pulling on the headliner.

That's what I ended up doing but rather than making a bracket I used sheet metal screws into the drop down metal beam/bar/whatever you call it thing (what the visors screw into). Lighting is SO much better now, gives the cab a soft blue glow from shining on the headliner, not blinding anymore.
