Cam and lifters? I know an aftermarket cam is right around 600 but bit sure what factory lifters run. What the heck happened?

I am sure you can call you local diesel shop and ask for the specs as far as torque and clearance are concerned.

well after all the trouble in and out of shop we thought we had it fixed with a new oil cooler and IPR drove from Oh to WV and back then it shut off with low oil pressure again they pulled the lpop and it was shot along with front cover. Dropped the oil pan found parts of piston rings, While I was Lifting engine out little ball bearing were hitting the floor not sure where those came from. stripped engine #8 cyl compression ring was gone 2nd ring wore to nothing oil ring gone piston beat to hell and back. But prertty sure I can save the block, crank is ok and cam and lifter look alright just dont know if I want to chance them after having engine down this far.

If they were little needle bearings then it was a lifter that failed, I saw onther motor this happened to and it wiped the cam lobe off. make sure you mark the crank adapter on the back of motor before you pull it off, has to be removed to get cam out, it is heated and pressed on before the crank is balanced so make sure to stamp it or something.

those bearings were probably from an idler pulley or ac pump pulley

If you're replacing the cam anyways, put an aftermarket one in. Colt cams are $599.
