Default Long violent shifts

My auto powerstroke is doing long violent shifts, does have edge but have only used the settings a few times, is my tranny coming to it's death?

I just use it for guages, I have only used the tunes 3 or 4 times not even driving hard. How often do you have to use the edge for it to mess with the tranny?

the trans has to learn each level, I drive in level 4 all the time unless I am towing and then I use level2/tow mode/ You can't just switch it to a level and just jump on it, you drive normal for a couple days so it can learn driving presures. If you never use it normally and switch it too 4 it will be violent at shifting, I have had mine on for 150k and the stock trans is holding up good, shifts perfect even when getting on it,could it be a little better? yes, just a little but you have to know its not a race car. when I tow I drive norma and watch my EGTs like a halk, with the banks intercooler I keep my temps below 1k on egts, only go above that for a very short time. I also get my best mileage on level 4-race.

How many miles are on this truck and what do you use it for?

The Edge certainly isn't going to help the trans at all.

I'll wait for Karl to chime in... He has ~3,700 reasons why he wont use an Edge anymore.

Am I that predictable, Mdub?

I had an Edge on mine for 5~6 years, mostly in 3, then the last year or so in 5, sometimes 6. I don't baby my truck, but every stop light isn't a chance to hone my reaction times, either.

So how long does it take? Depends on the truck I guess. I started with a VIOLENT 3-5 shift (3-4 if you're watching you Edge count shift events NOT what gear you're in but that's another rant of how Edge made me look dumb). This was backed up with a really cool hunt for 6th gear (5th on your Edge monitor). I changed valve bodies ($250), cleared up until I put the Edge back on. Cleared computer, came back with Edge, see the pattern? I bought an SCT and it worked ok after 4 shift cycles, then the uncommanded down shifts/converter unlocks, Tow/Haul light blinking, all sorts of cool stuff happened! Popped codes for blow'd up trans at this point. THREE~FOUR MONTHS FROM 'WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT SHIFT ALL ABOUT' TO REBUILT TRANSMISSION!

It was $2300 for a rebuilt transmission, plus another $180 for filters and fluids, $100 for a floor jack tranny adapter. The ONLY Edge product I would consider using during a hard night of drinking might be an Insight. If yer Edge makes power, yer buying a transmission. Sorry, Bob, but that's how I feel. I was warned 2 years ago to ditch that I LIKE TURTLES Edge and didn't. I won't run mine "just for gauges" after what I went through because the I LIKE TURTLES thing goes through the ECM.

Feel free to call Edge and ask what they can do about it, they will GLADLY take your old Attitude in trade for a CS/CTS + a few $100.

Karl, your unfortunate circumstances just help to drive home what we've been preaching is all. It sucks it happened to you, but at the same time you more than anyone have some solid evidence to put in front of people on why not to use it. That's all.

What Edge with attitude has a level 6 ?? they only go to 5 and you have to sighn a waiver for them to give you a code to unlock level 5, they recommend mods before using 5 so if you didn't do them then its no fault of the edge.

SCT doesn't make me sign anything and I didn't need any mods... though some guys need a fuel pump to keep up with the demand of some of the HOT tunes. What mods would you do to run level 5 anyways Bob? A full built trans?

It has 117,xxx miles, I use it for towing a 25 foot boat and a 30 foot trailer, other than that it's my daily driver. No mods other than EGR delete. The edge is getting ripped of soon in exchange for an SCT liverwire. I have only used the edge 3 or 4 times, I am aware that it's a trans killer so I just use it for the guages.
