Long violent shifts

This was knowledge about transmission wear taken from past experience on my 7.3L which has the 4R100.
And if you are hauling or heavy medium to heavy tunes for your truck, a TC will make all the difference if your transmission isn't taking a crap.
And the Billet two clutch torque converter for my 4R100 cost me right around $150, which made it 200% faster in torque time.. Which is no where near $1,000 or $1,500... Mine was rebuilt which is the same thing as new (they cut it open, replace all the inside parts with new parts, weld it back together then rebalance it).
So for $150 and a 200% torque time increase (my own wording ), I'd say job well done.

Do you understand what that even means? 200% faster in torque time? Cause I don't follow it.
5R110 vs 4R100 is apples to oranges, almost nothing about them is the same.
Our stock converter is a triple disk, leaps and bounds better than a stock 4R100. A stock 5R110 will survive with almost 600 rwhp being thrown at it, ONLY if it has good tuning to go with it. Tuning is crucial to the life of a 5R110.
What you needed to spend/replace on your 4R100 to beef it up or make it work differently, we can do through tuning. My race tune locks the converter up in ever gear other than first, so I'm putting all torque to the wheels at all times, unless the clutch packs start to slip, but thankfully with the tuning I run, that doesn't happen.
You didn't buy a torque converter for $150, you bought a repair job then... A stock OEM converter runs more than that.
Stick around and read a little bit, the 5R110's are quite an amazing transmission. You haven't even got to the part yet where you try to wrap your head around it having 6 forward gears, but it only uses 5 at any time and always skips one...

Here we go, highjacking the post again. Sorry OP.
A torque converter will make a difference on aggressive tunes, but then again, is it worth the $1200-$1500 and our labor involved just to change out a converter for an aftermarket billet 5 disk? Most of us don't think so. Having R&R'd a trans in my truck, it ain't coming out again unless it's BA-ROKEN!
So you got a billet 4R100 converter for a buck fifty, that wouldn't cover the core charge on a 5R110 billet converter. Like I read on another site, 'this isn't a cheap bastard's game!'
What the duece is 200% faster in torque time!?! If you're referring to throttle response, I did that with an SRL tune and an EGR cooler delete. But I wouldn't call it a '200% faster torque time'.

Mitchel H, when was the last time you serviced your trans??
Here is some fun facts about the 5R110.
