Not sure on where to go, or which set up...
Ok you can see in my sig i have the edge att plat juice kit.
I orginaly got the edge because of the on the fly, and engine gauges.
I have been looking around on the net on the "better" set ups.
I am think about now buying a sct x3 hand held programmer (with boxed and custom tunes)and the edge cts for gauges... any opinons on this?
Or sct x3 with a: tranny tune , extreme tune, and a extreme tune with smoke for the truck pulls.(if I go this way i may keep the edge for daily driver and gauges, and just run it at stock "0"when I use the sct)...opinons?
Does the cts have programming that you can turn off?
Or maybe sct livewire with dash screen? in stead of cts ( if they come with programming and custome tunes too)
I have the exhaust prob with the edge kit , does it work with the livewire or the cts? or do they come with new ones?
I want custome tunes but my truck is mainly stock still -see sig , no arp studs yet, but prob in the future if i see problems ,

With a rebuilt trans in my rig, I offer the following: Edge 'juice-kiss-my-butt-with-punk-attitude-purple' is no bueno, Batman! C'mon, even the proper name sounds stupid.
If you've got the bucks, heck yeah get a CTS Insight and an X3. If I had to do it again, I would have gone straight for the Live Wire. As it is, I am happy with my Scan GaugeII, Auto Meter Sport Comp fuel psi and EGT and SCT with Matt's SRL.

I've heard of quite a few issues with the TSX, so hopefully they've been worked out. The iTsx looks cool.
Definitely go custom tunes. I've said it once, I've said it a million times, Edge is a trans killer. They offer nothing in the way of transmission tuning, and that is what is key to making our transmissions live behind the power. On the fly is no bueno for a 6.0. I say just keep what you have for gauges and go with an X3 for tuning.

ok after read what yous have had to say, think i am going to keep my edge unit to use as the guages, and buy a sct x3 -----probably thinking of innovative diesel.
Now not sure on how they completly work. do i just call them and order it with the tunes i want, and it comes ready to plug and play? or do i order it , get it and have to down load my truck info on it before the tunning is put on it?
thanks for the info

Up to you. You can either buy a used one or a new one. If you go used, try to get it cheap enough to justify the cost. You will have to pay for tunes after for your truck, so factor that cost in. The used one needs to be "UNLOCKED" and it needs to have unlocks left... so the truck it came off of needs to be returned to stock. Each new unit comes with 5 unlocks. Every time it's put on a different vehicle and vin locked, it loses one of those locks. So if it has 0 unlocks left, it needs to go back to SCT and it's like $150 to get it reset. So if buying used, just make sure those two things are good.
If you buy new from one of the tuners, they will include tunes for free typically, so factor that into your cost.
Typically... you would order or buy a device (x-cal 3 in this case), once you get it in your hands you need to plug it into your truck and read the "strategy" of the truck. This is basically whatever "flash" ford has installed. Once you have that, you email or call your tuner, provide them with all the info they need and they write the tunes. They will then email you the tunes and you upload the tunes from your email to your SCT device. Then plug it in and load the tune on the truck!
It's really simple.

CS and CTS are cool, but they are spendy too. For simple gauge functions, I would be willing to try the Live Wire. While lacking the CS/CTS bells and whistles, it does accept the custom tunes of other SCTs. Then again, you could proceed as planned, get your SCT, then when your VISA recovers, get a CTS Insight.

When my Edge took out my transmission is how I should have started that out.
