i just got off the phone with ted at Innovative Diesel, he said should be no issue for using the edge for gauges, (well until i sell it and buy insight )

so i ended up buying the newest sct x3 3015IDP custom tuner
he is loading all the tunes on it! so good by edge for lower hp tunes

here is what he is putting on it

xtreme x - 440rwhp-780tq but will not be full value as i dont have a idp flashed ficm
xtreme race - 425rwhp-760tq converter locked in all gears
xtreme street - 415rwhp-730tq
aggressive street - 400rwhp-700tq
street 380rwhp-650tq up 10k lbs tow
tow 310rwhp-560tq over 10k lbs
economy mileage program

plus he said i can change other things like turning off egr etc....

now i just cant wait!!!!!

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

now that i have ordered it now i have to ask (looked through the forms but could find my answers)

if its all in rwhp(all others are motor hp) what arange will the sct be putting out?

now for fuel feed, i am only running stock system with blue spring upgrade. my pressure usally is around 60-63 psi. with my edge on extreme it will get down to 50-54psi at full throddle and high rpm just before a shift.(just after shift its back to 60)...
was wondering if i should buy a low pressure pump "like an little air dog or raptor" to pull fuel out of tank and prepump it to the stock pump(about 10-12psi). or swap out the stcok pump for a high psi air dog ????

Go with the air dog 2 unit especially if you plan to upgrade more later on. It works well and is very easy to install.

do you mean go with the air dog II (high psi unit) to replace the stock unit? if so which one as i see there is different ones. do they go by gpm ?

or go with a low pressure air dog to pre pump in to stock unit to help it keep up?

Your fuel psi is fine, when it starts dropping below 45psi, then be concerned.

If you plan on a AD2, it's the AD165 you want, your also gonna want to install a fuel sump. The sump will help let the AD live longer. It's been reported when running the AD2 with the stock FPR spring still in, can cause issue. So to remedy this, you'll need to block off the OEM fuel return line.

If your Edge brought it down that much, your hot tunes on your SCT are going to plummet it, at least my guess.

Wait and see what it does though, it may not be necessary.

The AD2 for Ford's is the 165 unit, that's really the only option you can get, and if you're ordering from a place that doesn't know that, go somewhere else. Try one of of the site sponsors.

Lilpooh, how in the heck are you going to block off the return line and still keep that alive? Without the return line you're not regulating anything and you're going to end up killing the airdog motor or blowing seals/o-rings out!!!

Fuel systems... so many different ways to skin a cat here, I think I've changed my mind on what I would do a dozen times now. A-1000 looks nice to me... though I might just throw a pusher pump to feed the stocker. So many ways to do it, each with their own benefit. I always wanted to do the AD2 as well...

There have been issues with the AD2 regulator fighting the OEM regulator, causes fluctuations in the fuel pressure. So to eliminate the issue, you block off the OEM fuel return line nut with a disk cut out of a soda can to fit inside the nut to seal off the OEM return line. Now the system won't be fighting each other, because the AD2 will regulate the fuel back to the tank. The other option is to crank up the AD2 regulator higher than the OEM pressure, but you still may get fluctuation in the fuel psi reading.

Another issue that has been reported is, the AD2 is working harder when used with the draw straw, so to correct this and to help prevent overheating the AD2 or failure, using a sump to feel the AD2 works great.

Ok, so if I have to go this route, ad pump, and a sump,
Would a return reg kit be better to use on the motor?

Gotcha! That makes sense, but obviously would only work with an AD2. You could simplify it even easier, just bypass the entire top fuel filter housing. Run the lines from the AD2 up, Y it off, and send it direct to each head.

You'll get a bunch of different responses to this with a few different opinions. I used to say just an AD2, and a fuel pressure gauge and let her run! I'm not so sure anymore. I think that could still be a good setup, but I believe fuel pressure should be read behind the heads, not at the fuel bowl like most do. I'm starting to like some of the less expensive RR setups more and more, unfortunately I just don't have the option of running one with my vegistroke, or at least not easily. I certainly wont knock anyone running a RR, that's for sure. I think if I didn't do a RR, I would at least run a stainless line behind the heads connecting each side, and put a fuel pressure gauge on that line somewhere.

Can I say wow! What a difference with innovative custom sct!!!!!!
Now I tried out extreme street tune on my truck , and yes! I do need
To upgrade fuel feed. I still not sure on things. As I read the air dog 165 is a replacement unit for stock right? ( so i would remove stock pump?)And the ad165 has adjustable pressure so I could set it around 75 and let the stock spring do the reg right?

Can anyone tell me the advantages or disadvantages of putting a smaller pump like the raptor or a ppe fuel pump in the line before the stock unit and run the two at the same time?

In both cases I am now planning to put a sump in the back 1/4 of tank.
