Same thing mine did when the TC exploded on it... probably not going to be able to tell much without taking the trans out at this point.

If it is my tc that I blew out is there a chance there could be damage to the inside of the tranny such as the gears, clutch, and etc?

When mine went out, they had to give me an entire new (reman) trans, even under warranty. With warranty you'd think they'd be as skimpy as possible. Probably just depends what happened. If there was metal shavings everywhere then they got pumped through the entire trans. Drain the pan and see what the fluid looks like, or take the pan right off and check it out. Most of the Mercon fluids smell burnt even new, so that's a tough way to indicate. It should be red fluid though (unless you went with something else), see what color it is and if there is metal shavings in it.

If your not running Mercron SP that might be your problem!!! And your warranty will be void.

I doubt he has a warranty left anyways... transmissions were 5yr/60k mile warranty. Remans were 3yr/75k... which never made sense to me.

SP has been superceded by LV now too.

A little off topic, but, I picked up 18 quarts of SP at the dealership when I did my trans swap earlier this month. The local OReilly Auto Parts also was stocking SP, for much less .

I did some reading on Ford's parts web page recently and it looked to me that the SP and LV were equally suitable for the TorqShift.

Finally, I COMPLETELY agree that the fluid needs to be looked at in the OP's truck. I would suggest opening the remote filter as a sample point, its not as messy.

Right, you can still get SP, but if you were to go in for a flush they would more than likely put LV in. When I just had mine rebuilt by Ford over the summer they also used LV.
