Default 03 f250 6.0 vs 02 f250 7.3

hello there im wanting some advice on two different trucks im new to the diesel trucks but i wouldnt go with anything other then ford. theres a 02 f250 7.3 with 165k miles with some modifications for 15 grand and then theres an 03 f250 6.0 with 118k for 13 grand with a pro comp lift and new tires. ive test drove the 02 and it picked up and went no problems starting no sluggishness at all. its a clean truck but it is worth 15 grand.

Worth 15? Probably not but people seem to think 7.3s are gold when it comes to sellling them. the other truck would be a steal if it doesnt have any problems

Depends on what kind of shape the 6.0 is in, however if you dont know a lot about them buy the 7.3

find out what was done to the 6.0, if he has EGR delete, and headstuds allready I would definately go that rout, I love my 04 with the 6.0

:whs:

If the head studs and EGR delete is done, the 6.0 would be a good option and either truck would probably be okay.

From a maintenance standpoint, the 7.3L is probably a bit more reliable and easier to work on. Just keep a CPS (Cam Sensor) and a 10mm wrench in the glove box for that day when the truck decides not to start or it stall when coming to a stop. Other than that, they are extremely tough and will last you a good, long time.

The 6.0L has its own peccadilloes, mostly revolving around the EGR cooler, the Oil cooler, and head gaskets. As indicated, if the top end has already been done (make sure there is documentation), studded, and EGR cooler eliminated, then you've got most of the worries eliminated for you.

Just be thorough in your research. Pull Oasis reports on both vehicles and see the service history. It may help your decision.

Good luck!

power hungry i talked to the guy and he said he put an after market turbo in and after that happened he had to replace the starter and the ignition coils and a couple other things and i asked him if he had paper work and he said no and the 7.3 price is bit high but im pretty sure i can talk them down to 14 ima post a description of the truck and let me know what you think.

002 F250 7.3 ,10 inch suspension lift with 38.5 ProComp extreme all terrain tires on 20 inch eagle alloy rims, bought them new for $3500,the transmission has around 7000 miles on it, it has full internal upgrades also a brand new ATS 5star converter, and a 6 quart bully dog deep dish transmission pan, a banks x wheel and banks big head waste gate actuator also, brand new TS performance chip, a 5inch straight pipe exhaust with 6inch tip, all new steering and ball joints and caster camber bushings done within the last 8000 miles, the tail gate is dented but you can get a new shell for $170 just never bothered with it, now inside is clean grey cloth interior no stains or tears, has touch screen dvd player, the truck has 167,000 miles witch is not much at all for the 7.3 Powerstroke, this is a great truck and my everyday driver gets around 16mpg. If chip is turned up it blows out black smoke, if you are interested come out and look at it the truck is in great shape

I would go with the 7.3 to be on the safe side. But if the 6.0 has all of the upgrades on it then it would be up to you on which truck you want more. But if the 6.0 doesn't have the upgrades I would do the 7.3 and stay away from the 6.0
