The first truck it is installed on it becomes vin locked. It will only flash one truck at a time.

They are VIN locked to the truck. The custom tunes are written based on what stratagy you have, so you could do an unlock but tunes for one truck probably wont work on another one. Go ahead and get your own SCT and tunes written for your truck and what you want to do. No one is ever sorry for getting an SCT and custom tunes.

And to add to what they said, everytime you turn one truck back to stock and go to another, you lose an "unlock" and they only come with 5, after 5x, the unit must be sent back to SCT for more unlocks to be added at a cost of like $150.

Just get your own and save yourself the headache and get tunes for YOUR truck.

The SCT is only the tool in which you use to get tunes from your computer to your truck. The level of tunes you use is up to you and the guy writing your tunes. The level of safety is up to the guy writing the tunes. However, most other "programmers" don't have the ability to tune the transmission, despite what they say on the box, so in that regard then yes it is much safer. Custom tuning is where power and safety come together.

Get the custom tunes, talk to the tune writer and tell him about your truck and what you want and any concerns you have. they will hook you up. Who are you getting the SCT and tunes from?

Custom for sure. Getting whatever it comes with really isn't much different than getting any other generic tuner out there. The key feature of getting an SCT is the custom capability!

You probably would be better off with the 3015, if your going with custom tunes.
