Default 2005 6.0 no smoke no start

I am fixing one of our work trucks its a stock 6.0L truck no mods at all. Its a 2005 f550. Cranking on it no start no smoke. Checked the ficm 47.6v cranking and just ignition didnt change. Removed the sensor on the valve cover and put a manual guage there 150psi. Put air to the same port i could hear air coming from the passenger side valve cover. Opened it up and removed the stantion pipe. Found a broken o ring, replaced pipe and plug. Tried it again and now it sounds like air is coming from the high pressure branch tube where the stansion pipe hooks into it on the same side. The stc valve off the hpop has already been upgraded to the new version. My question is how comnion is it for the branch tube to break ir split and cause a leak like this?. How much of a pain is it to change? I am down to a bare valley right now because the egr needed done and i wanted to check the rest of the stuff out, i heard its needed to remove the tranny. But what else needs to come off the top of the motor?

If you're in that far I'd just replace all of the stand pipes/dummy plugs 6E7Z-9A332-B

Sure it's not the HPOP? Where exactly are you hearing air coming from? Positive it's the latest and greatest STC update?

Ya originally i thought it was a hpop so i got a new one put in there. It turned out that it was just a wheap hole on the back of the hpop that i was hearing leak on the new hpop after i fixed the stand pipe. I called ford and they said thats normal. Kinda seemed weird to me because i thought thats how you tested the hpop system by putting air into the high pressure system?

You do, but you have to command the IPR valve shut, and you can't do that with a scanner since the scanner can only close it 85% of the way. Most guys buy an extra wiring pig tail for it and wire up a 12V source to it to close it all the way, then test.

I would still replace the stand pipes and dummy plugs, they have all been updated...

Ok that makes sense. I just held my finger over it and it held some good air pressure. So i think my hpo system is good. When u get the pigtail to close the icp sensor do u just hook it straight to the battery or how does yhat work? Thanks for the help

I haven't had to do it myself, but yes, a 12V source of any type should work just fine. I'm not sure if there is a specific polarity to it or what, but I'm sure you could hook one up in your hand and try it out and see what's what.

Have you physically pulled the IPR valve out of it? That's a pretty common area for this type of problem too. Most guys will pull it and find the screen collapsed and some junk holding it open or close or something of that nature.
