Mine does that all the time, and will smoke the world out if I idle for a while then realy jump on it. As long as it runs fine and you are not loosing coolant or getting terrible mileage I would just monitor it and see what happens. There are some preventive things to do to make these trucks last a long time, there are sticks at top of the ford section on things to do. coolant flush,coolant filter,egr delete, and testing the FICM is something you can do for free and a weak one could also cause smoking like you describe if it is on the weak side..

Oh yeah, just as a note, you will find that you get the best mileage if you run the Edge on the highest settings, I run on 4-race and save 5-extreme for special occasions. on the mileage setting I get maybe 17mpg and on 4 I get 20mpg, you just have to be good and keep your foot out of it because it is tempting

ok rule of thumb is black is excessive fuel. White can be either coolant or carbon. Blueish smoke is normally carbon build up in the intake on a 6.0. I see it at least once a week at the shop. If it isnt covering the vehicle behind to the point it dissapears and the vehicle is running good your ok. It's part of owning a 6.0L unfortunately. Even after an EGR delete and a programmer it will still smoke a little bit.

I couldn't disagree more. Mine doesn't (didn't) smoke a single ounce when I fire it up in 20* weather...
I would get video but it's starting to smoke a touch when I first fire it, but I also have a code for a glow plug as well.
They shouldn't be smoking at all when you first fire it, whithin reason. If it's really cold out, it's hard to not get some smoke due to the incomplete burn in the combustion chamber. If I'm plugged in I'll never get smoke, even with the one non functioning glow plug.
You can also get a whitish color smoke from fuel, especially when it's cold out and you're firing up a cold engine. You would really have to tell by smelling it. Blue is typically oil burning, and I've seen lots of intake manifolds that are gummed up, but I can't say swapping one for a clean one makes blue smoke go away...
If you're getting any smoke at idle and it doesn't clear up in the first 30 seconds of operation, you should really be looking at the strength of your batteries, the strength of the FICM, using a good quality oil (synthetic is preferred) and then possibly injectors. (Sticky injectors work much better with some Rev-X).
