Default reset PCM?

I think I read on here somewhere on how to reset the PCM by disconnecting the batteries and doing something else but I can't remember the whole thing. Its on an 05 250 6.0

What are you reading codes with? They don't always throw codes, and I doubt disconnecting and reconnecting the batteries is going to fix your issues.

Tell us more about your issues and we can point you in the right direction brother.

Sorry Mdub trying to do this after just having neck surgery last friday. It will surge at idle sometimes and the day before surgery it decided not to go when I pushed on the gas pedle. I could put it in neutral and it would slowly rev up to around 1300 rpm and then act normal but put it back in drive and most of the time it would just stay at idle. turned it off and then restarted and it got me home just fine. had the kid go out and start it for me 2 days ago and it started but never went to high idle (temp outside was 34 deg). he went to shut it off after around 15 minutes and then tried to restart it and it would not. I went out later and got it to start but idled real rough. Shut it off and went to restart while waiting for the glow plug light to go out noticed it showed normal running oil pressure with out the engine running and then that went down to 0 after about 5 seconds. went out today and it did the same thing but I triedto start it with the glow plug light out and oil pressure still showing normal and it would not start. I had to wait for the pressure to drop to 0. I am using the ACTRON CP9580 Scanner Plus

Try unplugging the ICP sensor and starting it. It's located in the passenger side valve cover. It runs through that valve cover, just unplug it and see if it starts any easier. Definitely an odd issue though...

Ok I will and I sent you a PM

I unpluged it and started the truck several times and then plugedit back in and did the same with no difference noted either way. I still had to wait for the oil pressure gauge to go to zero either way befor it would start. You are talking about the sensor that runs through the valve cover up front on passenger side right.

haha I'm here man. I keep forgetting to call you by the time I get home. Once I leave the office I basically am off the grid. I'll shoot you a PM with my number so you can call me.

Another quick/easy check.... on the intake manifold (not the plastic intake tubing, the actual cast metal manifold bolted to the heads) on the passenger side there is a rubber vacuum hose attached to a nipple. First, make sure that hose is hooked up. If it is, remove it and inspect it very carefully (or just replace it). This has also been known to cause very similar issues.

As for unplugging the ICP, that tells me the ICP sensor is not at fault here. Yes that is the one in the passenger side valve cover.

Now, explain this oil gauge a little bit... I'm assuming you're referring to the factory oil pressure gauge on the dash? This gauge really shouldn't be moving unless you're cranking anyways right? You can't get oil pressure by just turning the key forward to the "run" position right? So let me get this straight, you can't get the truck running until that gauge goes to 0? But if it does, the truck will start, but just runs rough? Man I'd really like to hook this truck up to a scanner...

Ok The oil pressure gauge is the factory one yes. The first time I start the truck it is at zero. After I shut the truck off and go to restart it when I turn the ignition on the pressure goes back to running pressure for 5-10 seconds and then slowly comes down to zero. As I crank to start the pressure comes up as it should and the truck starts. But if I try to start it while there is pressure on the gauge it will crank but won't start. I have to let itgo to zero first. I will check the hose in a little bit and let you know.
