Help: Died on freeway, No start, No throttle
Hi guys,
The story is that the truck died while i was going down the freeway. On the side of the freeway if i cranked on the starter, after about 10-15 seconds it would barely catch and barely run for about 20-30 seconds and then die. Pressing the accelerator pedal had no impact whatsoever once it was barely running and it sounded like it was bucking a bit during cranking. Once it cooled off and made it home it hasn't started since. We brought in the IDS and changed out the icp, crank sensor and both fuel filters. HIPO checked out 700psi cranking i think, no ficm codes. It sounded like there was a bit of a popping sound while cranking. There was also a contribution balance code on #4 and #8. We sent those 2 injectors out and they tested fine. Last night we re installed the injectors with new rings.
Now with the driver valve cover off and the high pressure rail off and all injectors in, cranking WITHOUT THE KEY (mechanic grabbed a starter wire that is under the hood and touched it to the battery momentarily) the popping sound is much louder. It sounds like if you were to stick a wet finger into a beer bottle and pop it out. Another member on here described the sound as a "mustang with a plug out" which is what I want to say it sounds like. From what little info I could find it was suggested that an injector is stuck open. Any thoughts guys??? Any help??
I'll trade you help for a laugh. I blew up the motor in my subaru sti with only 50k and came home on a tow truck, 4 days later my excursion died on the freeway and the tow truck driver was kind enough to park it next to my sti, i joked about having just bought a new pair of shoes and that i'd be okay, 4 days after my hilarious joke I stepped through a piece of glass and when i pulled my leg back up the piece of glass slashed my ankle open and ruined my new shoes as well as my ability to walk for the next week. I came home that night and my laptop broke (motherboard cracked) and when i gave up on it to switch to my pc the power went out for the rest of the night...
