Default horsepower and torque rating

does anyone know how much horsepower and torque the torqueshift trans can handle? i thought about doing a programmer but i don't wanna add anything excessive and hurt the transmission.

The TorqShift is a pretty stout trans. Most of the SCT tune writers will let you know if you're about to buy a tune that requires trans mods. I've run Edge Hot unlock and Innovative's Xtreme Race programs without issue.

Everyone has told me that it is the best auto tranny! not to worry to much about it as far as just a programmer. how much horsepower are u planing on adding. as long as u got a good tune i think your tranny will be fine.

The key to this transmission holding up, is GOOD tuning. When I say good tuning, I'm talking an SCT with a custom tune from a reputable tuner.

A stock 5R110 will hold anything you can throw at it tunes wise. The guys with the 6.4's are throwing almost 600 rwhp and 1000+ ft/lbs at these and they're surviving.

GOOD TUNING goes a LONG way. A good upgrade is also the GoGo direct drive solenoid too. It's $150 and a great investment.

5R110 stands for
5 forward speeds (even though theres 6 just cant use all 6 at any time)
Rear wheel drive configuration
110 1100 ftlbs of torque

I wouldn't trust it to hold 1100 ft/lbs without proper tuning. I've friend mine with just a tune once already. (Imploded the torque converter). Then the reman they gave me was complete garbage, but no one knows this better than you! haha
