Yes only use ford filters, the top filter is easy, it is the small black cap right next to the oil filter cap, you can use a socket driver to remove this one, when replacing make sure you put it in the same way and change the oring on the cap, make sure it sits in the right groove, put a little diesel on the oring before you tighten it down, snug it up don't crank on it or you could break the cap.Easy part is done but now get ready to get smelly.
the lower filter is in the framerail on the drivers side near the back of the trans, it is tight trying to do this one, if you have a 33mmor34mm wrench it is alot easier/forget which size but I think 34mm/ it is easier than an oil filter wrench, trust me it is worth it to go to a harbor freight and pick up a cheap set.
there is a small allen plug on the side of the housing/6mm/ remove that plug and it will drain the fuel out of the housing, have plenty of rags with you, I stuff them in the frame rails front and back to keep the fuel from dripping everywhere. make sure you have an oil drain pan or something under it, you will get a pint or so out of it, I try to catch the fuel in a mason jar to see if any water was in there. next remove the filter cap with a whench/34mm/ it is tedius but doable, when you pull it out and replace make sure you put the new oring on and I spray mine with wd40 to help it seat without tearing, make sure you snap the filter into cap before you put it in, make sure you put it in hand tight before you put the wrench on it, don't want to cross thread the plastic cap, well yor done and smell like diesel. turn the key on several times to let the fuel pump cycle and get the air out, then stert it up and check for leaks.
note, I always keep the original orings until I am sure there are no leaks
just incase I hurt one of them on install/ I haven't yet but better safe than sorry
so I can get back on the road. like all things the first time is the hardest and after that you can do it in about 20 minutes.

36mm socket guys.

I would also recommend using the correct socket for the filter cap up top, I've seen quite a few crack from just using the breaker bar method. I have used it myself a few times, but it's definitely safer using the socket. I believe that is smaller than the 36mm though, I can't remember what size it is.

Use either motorcraft or International filters. If you go Motorcraft, get them from an auto parts store. I know advanced auto carried them for $55 or so. International filters can be had for like $35-$40.
