Default Purchase of an 06 F350 PSD...

I'm looking at possibly purchasing a 2006 F350 XLT, Super Cab, Long Bed. Truck has new tires, 89,000 miles, and cosmetically looks great. Owner states that it's completely stock and only issue was a control module that was covered under warranty. My question is what would total approximate cost to have all the suggested work done to harden this 6.0: head bolts, egr bypass, oil cooler, etc.

I can get the truck for $17,000.00. All opinions welcome!

Get an OASIS report from a Ford dealer. Use the VIN and the dealer should do it for free. If that report shows anything you don't like then back away. For the costs I'd plan on less than $5k total for everything and some extras if done by a full rate shop or dealer.

Where in VA??

I'm 60 miles north-east on Richmond on the Northern Neck peninsula.

Thanks

Depends who is doing the work I guess. That price doesn't really strike me as a good deal.

What would you consider a good deal on this truck? I haven't made an offer, $17k is his asking price.

I'd say it's a fair price, but if you plan on doing other things (Headstuds, EGR delete) factor all that stuff in I'd say.

Tough call, the prices vary so much by area as well.

Thanks! I'm still on the fence about buying this truck. If negotiations get more serious I'll get the VIN #.

I've been on this forum for only about a mo. now and I gotta say this is the most frequently asked question haha. I think some one should make a detailed write up on this very topic. if no one is willing id do it problem is being as I work so many hours I wouldn't have time till the weekend. On top of that i don't think I'd be the best canidate being as ive yet to have any of the "bullet proofing" work done aside from the sinister coolant filter.
