I'm excited to find out what the bottom one looks like and also when i replace it i drain the water by unscrewing the Allen screw on the side of the unit right?

Does a dirty egr valve have anything to do with the fuel economy? I'm not sure of the condition but I'm gonna check it out tomorrow ill provide pics for that as well.
I feel as though I'm being robbed some where of HP I mean are these trucks stock with 35" tires generally pretty slow I mean I can't even pass up cars when i step on it but I've never owned or driven a diesel so Idk
Next week im gonna do a test for any boost leaks and also recondition the turbo I truly feel somethings not right my wifes 4 banger Honda can take me and that's just bad on the ego haha

Ok then there is something seriously wrong... I can't spin my tires for s*** I can hardly beat a garbage truck out of the hole...
Is your truck chipped or something or is mine just full of problems ?
Also i dont ever hear my turbo... Is it supposed to be super quiet on these trucks? Is there anything I should check before I start blowing money on non broken parts trying to fish out the problem
Thanks guys

Also what do you guys think about removing the muffler and dumping it after the cat? I crawled under the truck today and noticed the whole exhaust is bolted up with exhaust clamps not welded I'd straight pipe but im in CA where people get hung by their ears and beaten with water hoses for doing such a thing

If yer not two footing it to build boost with an EGR cooler in place, you will never beat the garbage truck out of the hole or spin your tires, that's from experience. Even with the EGR cooler in place it doesn't spin them until its rolling (by rolling I mean I punch it at about 20, it spins up, then breaks them loose), but its got mucho bettero throttle response.
Straight pipe that thing from the turbo back! That is the cheapest bang per $ spent and this isn't that hard to undo for the bi-annual check. I know people in the People's Republic of Kalifornia that do this on Mustangs and stuff.
When my turbo was shot, it made boost until the engine got up to temp then nothing. If I were going to check for a boost leak I would take a flash light, get under the passenger side and follow the up pipe, there will be a corregated section, look for soot there, this can be a breaking point. You can also feel around the band clamp on the driver's side of the turbo when you first fire it up. Don't wait too long, you can get burned, literally.
In the end, you really should try to get this truck in to have codes read, this is always the best place to start.
