Default Strong smell of diesel after you get on it...

I've noticed here recently that if I get in it pretty hard, by the time I come to a stop, I my windows are down I can smell diesel very strongly, maybe it's just me, just thought I'd see what y'all would say.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

And I have yet to delete the muffler and cat.

Deleting the muffler or cat should have no effect.

It smells like fumes or raw fuel? My guess without more info would be cracked up-pipe. Try reading the thread at the top of the page for the new guys, then repost with more info.

Thanks, and welcome to DB.

Yes sir, that's exactly what it smells like, I me
An the truck is bone stock, and not necessarily when I get kn it hard, just mainly when it boosts any higher than 10-15 lbs of boost. If I'm not mistaken, the up pipe is what connects the passenger manifold to the y pipe into the turbo?

Well technically there are two up-pipes. Each one connects an exhaust manifold to the y-pipe (collector) up top. The passenger side is a solid unit though, the drivers side has the EGR cooler mounted to it, and it has a bellowed section. That bellow section is typically what cracks. If you have to go in that far to swap it, I would highly recommend just doing a full EGR delete at this point, it will probably cost the same, if not cheaper, and you're already all the way in there, and it will only increase reliability.

Ever get any strange high pitch noises when you first fire it up or anything?

No high pitch noises at all, I'm going to talk to my local dealership tomorrow and ask what all is covered in warranty, cause if it wSnt for that it'd already have an EGR delete kit on it. I mean it seems to be running fine, no noticeable power loss, just the strong smell of raw diesel.

Tell them you get a strong smell of fumes in the truck. If it's under warranty they should cover it. I had one covered under warranty before.

I had the raw fuel smell a few months ago. It ended up being the Oring for the fuel regulator.

i may have to check the fuel regulator, and as far as warranty, its covered if its the up pipe, either side. and as soon as i mentioned "EGR delete kit" they were like whoa! that will deff void your warranty, even a cold air intake will apparently void it as well.

If your still under warranty then the Oring on the fuel regulator is covered. had mine fixed a few months ago and it was covered.
