Default up grades for my 6.0/ lookin for opinions

im going with:ATS Aurora 3000 Turbo, 4'' exhaust, sct tuner, afe cold air intake,High-Ram Intake elbow and tubes, arp head studs, sinister diesel gaskets from top to bottom of the motor, already installed the egr delete. just wanting some opinions, and reviews on the items listed above, im doing this all on my own to try to get more life outa my motor, it has 300 thousand miles on it, i use it for alot of pulling and highway driving.

Don't believe all the hype in the magazines. You'll need to add fuel mods to support that Aurora. Ford gaskets are better than any aftermarket ones out there.

My suggestions would be a PowerMax turbo, OEM air filter, 6.4L banjo bolts, AirDog fuel system, SCT w/ custom tunes, MBRP exhaust, ARP studs. Plenty there for your towing needs. If you got the cash drop in some 155-175cc injectors.

Good luck with that turbo...

there is a reason these trucks have VGT, its to get them rolling.... Non-VGT turbos wont get the thing moving unless your dumping a **** ton of fuel downlow....

X2, and add fuel pressure, EOT, and ECT.

Lose the aurora and forget the sinister gaskets, you'll want OEM head gaskets. Have you accounted for machine shop costs for the heads in your build? What are you doing for a fuel system? Injectors? I'd forget about the banks hi-ram stuff too.

You're better off just telling us what your budget is, and what you want to do with the truck as well as HP goals. We can put a list together for you.

Any mods you currently have will help too.

if i give you $6600 and i want power, performance, and to seal up the engine and have it last another 300 thousand miles what could you do for me?

i have 3 grand for labor, and 6600 dollars for parts and shipping, i would like new seals, just because, i want studs since they are better than head bolts, and i need a new turbo, my bearings are going out on mine. i plan on running a 4" mbrp exhaust, no cat and an sct tuner with custom tunes

VGT is variable geometry turbo. Basically the computer controls the angle of the vanes so we can simulate a small turbo housing for fast spool up, but then open them up as it gets spinning to simulate a larger housing and more flow up top.

I know in your PM you said you tow a bigger trailer, let us know what it weighs fully loaded and how often you're towing. Do you have a HP goal in mind? Or just whatever you can get for your money?

Honestly... I'd do the headgaskets (OEM gaskets, NO sinister/black onyx/victor reinz they're all one in the same and it is not recommend to use them), head studs ARP's are fine, 155cc injectors and a powermax turbo. Then all supporting stuff... .a coolant filter, some good gauges (fuel pressure #1 most important, ECT and EOT) (those are engine coolant temp and engine oil temp). When they have the heads off, they NEED to be machined! You'll want to replace the oil cooler with a stocker, and all of the other little upgrades ford passed on, like updated turbo feed and drain lines, updated HPOP screen, updated IPR screen/o-rings, and maybe an HPOP since you have that many miles... New injector o-rings and copper crush washers etc. I have p/n's and prices back at the office I can post when I get back on Monday.

I will be posting up my current build up I'm doing and it will list all these parts too, I should be doing that very soon. You will want to follow that...

For what you have to spend you might be a little short to add injectors to the build. Otherwise you got PLENTY of cash to get the mods done as I addressed earlier. If you have the ability/friends that can do the wrenching you will save a ton.

I'd suggest buying the parts you need and search for a good shop to do the head work. Once you get all the parts together then head to the shop for the stud work. If you break up the spending over a few months it doesn't hurt as bad.

If you need all the work to be done at a shop DO NOT tell them what you have to spend. Get a list of the work/parts that they will do and compare it here. I know SD doesn't have a ton of "performance diesel" shops so make the best of your research here.

i dont know exactly how much it weighs, but i drive from south dakota to indiana bout 4 times a yr and from south dakota to oklahoma bout 2 times a yr, other than that i do alot of small driving like..an hr here or there, haulin farm equipment and stuff on the side, right now i am deployed so i cant get you exact numbers of everything, but if i leave the original gaskets in, put studs, airfilter, powermax turbo, 4" exhaust, sct tuner wtih custom tunes, and an air elbow in, would that be a good start? for when i get back to america and then move from there?
