Is this for a 6.0, or the 7.3 in your sig? Depending on the year they're held in with either a T-40 or a T-45 torx bolt. As long as you have one of those its all basic hand tools besides that.

They're not terrible, but definitely time consuming. Are you sure it's the injectors? Can you give us some more info? A lot of times on 6.0's injectors are commonly misdiagnosed when all it is, is the FICM going bad...

Give us some more info on the truck here. Have the batteries been load tested? Has the FICM been tested? Are you getting trouble codes for certain injectors? Has it been scanned at all? Cylinder contribution test run? Buzz test run?

well im still in the process of buying the excursion. had a friend look at it. he is a ford tech. he says that there are 3 injectors that are bad and overall its a good truck. its a 2005 excursion with 126k on it. 4inch lift, air ride and gauges. like the truck but i just don't know much about the 6.0s. it was chipped form what he could tell. i like them i do know that. i have only worked on my 7.3. but no i have not run any other diagnosis on the truck.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

there is no maintenance records of it and it has a clean carfax but that does not mean much.

Did your tech friend run an Oasis through Ford on it? That will tell you all of the warranty work done on it.

There are no "chips" for 6.0's either, programmers only. Why did he say he thought it had one at one point? Or did he think it was still on it? The previous owner couldn't comment, or is this through a dealer of some sort?

The injectors may be good. It could also be bad batteries, a dying FICM, or any number of other things. Did he hook it up to his scanner?

Did you have a chance to drive it around at all? Did you check for any excessive pressure on the cooling system? Any maintenance records with it?

No he did not run a Oasis on it. it was more of a beer in hand diagnosis. my father in law had a 07 6.0 SD and he ran a chip plugged into his cpu. the excursion is from a dealer and they ran some test on it after i noticed a spudder when you layed in to it. they told me that three injectors were bad.. no maintenance records.

Have your buddy run an Oasis on it, all he needs is the VIN, he should even be able to do it anywhere with internet access.

It's still not a "chip" in the sense of chips for 7.3's, these are completely different animcals, and anything switch on the fly for a 6.0 is a BAD idea. Those are tranny killers. Those plug in jobs are what I would call a "fooler," not really a programmer or chip. They basically just send false signals to the PCM to trick it into adding fuel and timing. There are much better options out there (or should I say option singular?). SCT with custom tunes is the only thing I would ever run on a 6.0.

The spudder at WOT could be a number of things, including neglected fuel filters. Tough call. So the dealer is just going to sell it to you with 3 bad injectors? (if that's even what's wrong)?

Hard to tell what's wrong with it with the info given, however it's not terribly difficult to swap injectors. If you're going to get new one's, get OEM Ford injectors. They're a little pricey, but they're the only thing available really. You can get junk rebuilds on ebay, but there more risky than playing russian roulette. OEM come with 12k mile/12 month warranty too. Hope that answers your questions!
