smoke, burns my eyes
ok... once again, here we go. let me just get this out of the way. 2006 f250, 115000 miles, egr delete, innovative extreme race tune, 5 inch exhaust.
ok. I just put my truck back together with a new oil cooler installed. I was making coolant, and it looked like thick chocolate milk. and I was losing oil. no I dont have guages. I put it all back together and proceeded to flush outh the coolant system. removed the t stat and ran the motor for 10 minutes, killed it, drained it, waited 90 minutes untill the block was cool, did it again. on the forth flush I noticed smoke coming from the tail pipe. its not thick enough for me to tell a color. only thing I can say for sure is that it burns the hell out of my eyes. the underside of my hood looked like the cap on the degas bottle had puked the coolant oil mix before I parked the truck to replace the cooler. sorry I'm not being lazy, I'm reading right now trying to get this damn thing figured out. need my truck back in action. So shoot me some ideas friends. And like always thanks.
oh, starts fine, idles fine. no codes, blah

Burning your eyes is fuel. Is it possible it's just residual fuel from starting the truck so many times and not driving it at all? They don't really burn all their fuel at idle, which is why everyone says not to idle them for a long period, UNLESS you can do it with high idle. Do you have high idle hooked up? Even if you don't see smoke, if you put your face in front of the exhaust, it will probably burn your eyes.
Your FICM is good right?

oh, ment to ask, are you doing your studs yourself or is powerstroketech doing it?

I'm doing it. My truck sat at the dealership where powerstroketech works for almost 2 months, all they did was rebuild the trans and feed me a bunch of lies and BS. Powerstroketech was not at fault, he really had no control over the situation. The trans rebuild worked great though, trans hasn't been this good in a while. His service manager can kiss my white behind though. They told me they wouldn't touch anything on my motor cause I had stacks and gauges... yet they rebuilt the trans under warranty. I didn't even care about that part so much, it was the complete lack of communication on their end. They went WEEKS without returning a phone call. I called and left messages for the service manager and the general manager with not so much as a call back ever. I called Ford corporate about it and they basically told me to go pound sand. All I could do was leave negative feedback. I'm glad you brought it up, I forgot to leave the bad feedback, need to call and do that though.
I think it'll work out better this way, because I've wanted to do it myself for some time now.

wow, that sucks. At least something wa fixed though. I knew Powerstroke tech had the truck last I had heard, then saw were you recently said you were going to do it yourself. didnt know what happened with that.
yeah, I figure I'll do my own as well. I'm hoping to hold of untill next spring to where I can start driving the mustang again.I need to find a shop that will machine the heads though. You gonna pull the cab or try it with the cab on? I'm still trying to figure out how to lift the cab with no lift. I have two 2500 lb electric forklifts. I'm sure I can rig it up some how.

Doing mine cab off. I got lucky and found another guy with a 6.0 and a lift off of powerstroke.org who lives 15 min from me... he just did his and I helped him a little with his, he's going to help me with mine now. He also has an extra set of heads for me to get machined while I still drive mine, so when mine come off I can toss his right on and give him the ones that come off of mine. Couldn't have worked out any better. I will be posting all of my parts and details on here for all to follow along soon. Almost have everything I need, just placed my last order to Ford this morning for the pieces. I'm excited to get it done!
Just for reference, I dropped my truck off at that dealer July 31st, they were scheduled to start working on it Aug 3rd. I never even got to talk to anyone at the dealership until August 13th, and I had left probably 4 voicemails by that point and called over a dozen times. I never even got my truck back until September 24th... My truck actually ran out of warranty sitting on their lot. Apparently it was REALLY hard for them to pick up the phone and let me know what was going on.

I dont even mess with dealers and mechanic anymore. If I cant work on it the I dont need it...... if I'm goin to keep this thing then I'm going to buy a lift that I can pull the cab with and lift my mustang with. I cant think of any reason I would need to lift the whole damn truck.
Any body else know anything else I should check for? No internet at my shop and would like to have my ducks in a row before I head there tonight.

read some where that replacing the oil cooler could introduce air into the system and cause this untill its driven for a bit. I am kind of skeptical, but I'll just finish flushing the truck and take it out for a drive after I check the ficm

If the oil system had air in it, which they do get when doing a swap like that, it does need to be bled out, by driving it hard. It wouldn't make smoke like that though, in fact it does the opposite, it barely pushes any fuel out. No oil or air in the oil, means no high pressure oil, means can't fire injectors very good. When my buddy put his truck back together after headgaskets, he could only get 800 degrees on his pyro on extreme street. That was on stock gearing and 40" tires too.
I say drive the thing and see what happens.
