Hey all, got another one here... something tells me it's going to be similar to my last work order.
Here's what I got. cranks long/hard start. Knocks when cranking. Exhaust smells like oil, and oil dip stick smells like fuel.
I you can share some ideas, since my vehicle starts, I don't think it's an electrical problem, but based on my other facts I think it's internal or possible another bad HPOP. [military vehicle: 23K miles]

It would be nice if you could get an actual oil analysis done to see what is really in there.

I'd start right where you did with the last one, pull the IPR valve out and inspect it. I suspect since it starts that it could just need new stand pipes/dummy plugs, and not a full HPOP.

Are you able to test the high pressure oil system for leaks? You need to hook shop air up to it with a custom fitting, and then with software command the IPR closed and listen for leaks.

Alright Mike this is what I have. ICP checks out and its not looking like an HPOP problem, but that doesn't mean it's still probable. I'm ordering some uv dye for diesel fuel, so that I can check where the leak is. It's shooting codes for the fuel pump circuit low and cylinder #2 malfunction. This vehicle passed an injection solenoid buzz test, so I take it the FICM is in working condition. I did state before that there is fuel in the oil, and I think that this is the main concern. Is it possible/more likely that injector #2 is the leaking injector based on the code? When the engine is running there is a major misfire/or cylinder not firing at all because a clanking sound is heard as well as the vehicle shakes violently.

I forgot to mention that the turbo is gone too. After starting it and letting it idle, you can litterly floor it and no power is your result. It slowly increases rpm's and the turbo never kicks in. I pulled the pipes off the turbo and it wasn't dry like you would expect. But it seems like the turbo is gummed up.
