optima yellow tops
has anyone had problem with these? my stock batteries started giving out and i replaced them with 2 yellow tops. it seems if i dont drive the truck everyday they start dying. i let it sit over the weekend and monday morning they were dead. i dont think there is a drawl anywhere, the stock batteries last over 5 years. im thinking of switching back over to lead acid. thanks

I have yellow tops, they are a deep cycle battery made for high draw electronics. I personally havent had any problems with them but im sure if their not getting run down enough they will start to die. Red tops are good batteries ive had one in my yukon for over 6 years. depending on how old your yellows are, i would try and sell them or trade em.

Been running a red top in my girlfriends 02 escape for the last 6 or 7 years, killed the battery numerous times running the system in the driveway with the car off, it sees NY winters/summers so it's seen as low as -30 and as high as 100, still kicking man...
I'm still using my factory batteries in my 06 with 88k miles. No issues as of yet, and they've been drained down to the point of not starting the truck NUMEROUS times.
As much as I hate wal-mart, they have a good battery policy, and you can always find one somewhere, in the middle of the night, since most are open 24 hours, and they sell decent batteries too.

so im in a 7.3l not a 6.0l but im looking at gettin new batteries so i searched optima and it brought me to this thread. so heres my question ive got a winch system and other electronic goodies that love to put a hurtin on batteries and wanted to see what yall would think about running a yellow and a red (yellow would have the winch system and other goodies hooked to it) also the truck is eventually gunna get some aftermarket lights (some= 6+ 6" kc lights)

Never mix batteries, even if one gets dammaged they should both be replaced.Deffinatly dont mix a deep cycle with regular duty. The best way would be to add a third deep cycle isolated by switch to run winches. Many need to do that setup plowing snow when running a plow , sander and lights ect.

the yellows were brand new when i put them in last fall this has been an ongoing issue, its just not starting to get to me. i hate having to charge the truck, since its summer ive been riding to work everyday but there are days when i need to drive and the batteries are dead. im going to change them out and i hope thats it
