Default holding third to fourth gear shift

Along with stiction issues, any thought on why my 6 liter wants to rev out third to fourth gear shift while bully dog programer is turned up? I pretty much have to back out of the throttle a little to let the trans shift to fourth gear. Only in the upper programmer settings, not on towing or stock... Truck is 03 f250 4x4 6.0, 6.5 lift on 37's 54,000 miles. This just started happening about a month ago... Probably from smoking too many rice rockets at stop lights!!!

Get rid of the bullydog. My buddy used one on his 04 and he could NEVER run it on extreme settings because the transmission would basically poop on itself and get extremely confused. I believe Bullydog even recommends you do a trans re-learn every time you switch tunes. I finally convinced them to get an SCT. Found a used X-cal 2 on the forum for $150 for him, then he bought 3 tunes from Innovative Diesel for $165. He loved the extreme street tune from Innovative. It was scary to ride in with the bullydog on, felt like the trans was going to come through the floor.

Sell it, buy an SCT with custom tunes and don't worry about it anymore.

Mdub707, Thanks for the reply. Ya, not impressed with the Bully dog. Crazy Larry tune hauls *** but not alright if the transmission doesnt want to shift. Already been advised by Left Coast to by the SCT Tuner, seems like a lot of folks are leaning torwards innovative tunes... My truck is not used for towing really, occasionally a wakeboard boat... Its my daily driver, street truck/ranch hand wheeler. In that, what would you recommend for custom tuning on the SCT. Last but not least programmer aside, can the speed sensor or what ever it is on top of the rear diff. have anything to do with the shift issue? Thanks again for the help!

Maybe it can, but I doubt it. Usually if that sensor messes up you'll get erratic speed readings and your ABS light will flash, never heard of it messing up shifting, but I'm not sure if it's possible or not either.

Tunes are going to be up to you... if you're already running the "crazy larry" you'll really like extreme street, it will be worlds better than the larry tune. The only thing crazy about it is the people using it!

When I got mine I got aggressive tow (up to the max limit of the vehicle), economy, and extreme street, I've since got a whole bunch more. Don't bother with the economy, it's a waste of money. The high power tunes offer the best mileage. If I did it again, I'd get extreme street, street, tow. Extreme Race is fun too, but I didn't have enough self control to daily drive it. With that tune you either need to be full throttle or driving like a grandma. I burnt up a torque converter already with it, so I leave it for it's intended use, racing.

i wont go into technical in depth technician bla bla bla jargon, i will however tell you as simply as possible that If you keep it up your truck wont ever shift into a higher gear than 3rd and the transmission will need to be rebuilt.

The tone ring on the rear diff is not involved in your shifting. only abs and speedo reading.
