pretty sure that is an EGR code, sounds like the egr valve is stuck open, the valve is located right to the left of the intake elbow, has a connector on top of it, it is a round cylinder with 2 small bolts holding it in place, when removing it be careful and gently pry it up side to side, it will be tough because it will be coated with crud, clean it good with some brake clean, try to get most of the junk out of the intake as well, any more questions just post them, but this is most likely the trouble you are having.. if you pull the egr valve and clean it. make sure you dont get any fluid ( brake cleaner or such) on the electrical connectors. heard way to much about the valve going to crud if that happens.

Definitely an EGR code, but is it the problem you're having? Maybe...

Default PO404

I pulled my ERG. A little tough to get it to break loose and come straight out. No place to grab it. Used a mini pry bar after I got it to twist a little (1/4 inch) with one of those rubber strap oil filter removers.

Above, someone mentioned to clean out the intake too. Do you mean I should spray carb cleaner down in the hole and knock that stuff loose? Where will it go?

I cleared the 404 and it seems to be holding. Thanks for the help (and saving me the $230 for the replacement part).

No, the only good way to clean that intake manifold is to remove it from the truck and have it hot tanked. If you can't or don't want to do that, just leave it.
