Default wont start enless cranked forever need help

Ive got a problem with my 6.0.The fuel pump stays on for 20 - 30 sec when it use to only stay on for 8-10. ive had the truck for just over a year now and its through its second winter 1 injector went out last year and this year i havent drivin it much. it all started when the batteries died and then we got it on a charger and it finally started. Now it cranks for a long time then will finally start but once it is started it will start fine enless it sits for more that a hour or so. What could be wrong with it, going on a trip in a couple of weeks and need the truck. also the check engine light isnt on.

Even though the light isn't on, you may still have codes present. I'd try getting it scanned. You should also test fuel pressure and probably have your batteries load tested and then test the FICM. All of this is pretty simple to do.

Ficm you can get from Ford, or you can try and resolder it yourself, or you can call up Swamps diesel and order a "fixed" one from them or even an upgraded one.

resolder yourself costs: some of your time, a solder gun, a few beers
Swamps unit: $400 I think, more if you want a full upgrade to a 58V unit
Ford half shell is just over $400, a full new one is over $900 + a core.

If you don't want to resolder it yourself, call up swamps.

Test it first, it may still be good. Just google it, tons of write ups on how to check it and fix it.

Any smoke coming out the tail pipe while cranking over?

agree with the ficm check, but also might want to check BOTH fuel filters, might explain the long run time to reach pressure

if you solder and it does not fix it you will only get 50 dollars for the FICM
SWamps have a 170 core charge not tampered with..

Best bet is to search FICM on this forum ....there is a video showing how to test while in truck....

http://www.swampsdiesel.com/content/faq/ficm.htm

and the numbers you should get ...turned on and cranking ....
