common mods and answers
so,
i have heard that the worst thing for a 6.0 diesel is a dealership mechanic. i happen to know one, he is my father in law. i have been asking him about common mods that have ssemed to improve the performance and reliability of 6.0's including egr delete, intake and exhaust, headstuds, and a programmer with methanol injection. he keeps telling me that the egr delete will help with prevenetative problems but, with out the methanol injection you will cook a turbo and warp your heads. has any one here just run the egr delete with out another form of keeping pyro temps in check?

yep oil cooler fail quite often i would not own a 6.0 without a coolant filter on it casting sand and sillicate frome the coolant plug up the oil cooler and cause it to blow. The ford gold coolant sucks the 6.0 needs a good ELC cat-1 rated coolatn and yea yo do knot want any kind of water menthonall injection on the 6.0's

Egr delete = good
Ford gold coolant = bad(trashes oil coolers like said above)
ELC coolant = good
Water injection, You don't really need unless your EGTs are out of control from a hot tune or you have large injectors.
The 6.0 is a very good, powerful, and reliable engine if you understand it and maintain it.

I'm going to post up an interesting link in a minute about coolant discussions, because I see a lot of talk about it lately, and I'm not sure I agree with it, but anyways it's something for thought...
If he told you that you need to run meth injection to support an EGR delete then your first line is proving true.
