Cold start

Wasn't trying to make up anyones mind for them it was stated above that why would you? So I answered why and what I have done.
Owned the 6.0 since Dec of 03 and it has been down for a total of 5 days within this 7 years. Less than a day a year.
The 6.0 is a great engine and will run for a very long time. I have no complaints about it. Owned a 97 Dodge Cummins and 5 Chevys 03-06. Only one I kept is the 6.0. It is the one I can count on and if it does go down there are parts available to fix it.
Can we get back to the topic now?

We appreciate the input though, just don't want anyone discouraging other members from working on their own stuff. It should be their choice. We can put the info out there, but in the end it's up to them to make the decision on how and when to fix or repair their truck!
Do you do your own work or have the dealer do it? I know my truck wouldn't have been down nearly as long if I just did the work myself. Last trip to the dealer, it sat there for just shy of 7 weeks. No joke... and it was simple work.

I do a lot of the work, but one of the guys I have known all my life is a ford diesel mechanic. When I wanted the ARP studs in it was driven across 2 states so that he could do it. I was going on vacation and he apprecaited the $ and I knew it would be done right.
Let's put the options out there and you are correct it is up to the individuals on what they decide.
The Dodge had transmission and front suspension issues along with fuel pump, All of the chevys had transmissions and injector issues. Dodge pulled the best but rode the roughest. Chevy had the best ride, but I couldn't keep it together. Any of them. Dad has my 03 Chevy and it has 125k on it and is on it's 3rd complete set of injectors and 3rd transmission. 97 Dodge is still pulling light horse trailers and doing some farm work in northern MN.

ok so im confused now, i checked my ficm, (on, cranking, and running) from a cold start it was hard to start but it never changed from 48.5 so i guessing the ficm is still good. also i installed my fuel pressure guage today ive had it but never installed it, it was reading fine but now it is peged out all the way to 100, but when i floor the go pedal it drops to 55 i checked 3 times for a faulty wire but it is install correctly, i must have a bad sending unit i don't think my truck it pushing over 100 psi? Maybe that is why glowshift is so cheap!

i am going to check the ficm tonight
bring truck inside too cold outside
i am going to check if i get 48 dc volts with key on on the module
if low
i am going to remove and re soder the 16 points on the board
What is the modification help going to 58 dc volts.....
How does this help
thanks
Or i might send the unit in for 395 dollars and get it back in a few days

okay i am frustrated....
took the coolant bottle out of the way and bingo snapped the plastic Y piece on the bottom of the reservoir .....
So now i have to order from Ford monday morning.....
It is the coolant plastic Y hose ....plastic then looks like presss fit hoses on
I was very carefull......
So i took off inspection cover and have four posts on the FICM
Turned key on and got 48.3 DC volts
Did not check while cranking .... coolant hose is off....did not want antifreeze everywhere
This BITCH only starts plugged in.....
Starts no problem plugged in
Checked batteries and got 12.5 volts with key off...at the battery

I checked it with the key on (48.5), then cranked my truck and checked it (48.3) I didn't check while cranking I was by myself.
