Thanks.

I'm still researching my alternatives. I came across some really good information that I'd like to share with you. It's of a website I stumbled across. I cut and pasted it into the following document, since I thought it would make an excellent sticky and, maybe, stop people like me asking redundant questions. Maybe the moderator can review it and make sure it's within your forum rules.

Like I said, I'm still looking, but I haven't given up on the 6.0 quite yet.

I wonder if someone would tell me how to get an OASIS report on a vehicle? I am looking at an 06 that has been meticulously maintained ... every 5K at the same Ford dealership. It's a one owner truck.

According to the Carfax, the engine was removed for repair around 50K. Why would they need to remove the engine? There are also a lot of entries that mention charging system checked, engine module checked and, just before it was traded in, coolant system checked.

Would an OASIS report give details about each time the vehicle was in the dealership for service or just general information, as is on Carfax? Would the dealership give me this information without me owning the vehicle?

I'm not sure if someone on here has access to OASIS, but here's the VIN, just in case: 1FTSW21P16ED40932. I'd appreciate it if someone would run it and let me know if there have been major issues with this vehicle ... she's very nice and I'd really like to own her!

Just go to the dealer, they should be able to run it for you. As for engine removal, could have just needed a seal, who knows. Some tech's take the engine out, the others remove the cab... pick your poison! Cab removal is easier in most cases though. As for checking the charging system, ECM and coolant system, probably just standard checks they do when it's in for service.

Just called them and the douche bags will not run a report for me. They said it is privileged information for the owner only ... what bullshit! I guess, since I'm not buying from them, they are screwing with me. Any ideas?

Have the guy who is selling the truck provide it then. If it's a dealer selling it, they usually will provide one if you ask, since you are the potential new owner. If this is private party just ask the guy who owns it now to do so.

Ironically, it's a Dodge dealer that's selling it. I'm going over there this afternoon, so I'll ask.

That is a load of crap!!! I bought mine from a private owner and the garage that the truck was taken to provided me with all the info. Call another dealer and if they won't provide any info then call Ford and raise hell!!! That is partially why there is an Oasis report not only to track the work done but for potential resale

I went down and looked at the truck. It's in real nice shape. I had the salesperson call the Ford dealership to ask them to fax over the OASIS. Well, we received the first page only. Twice they tried, but same thing happened. Anyway, the salesperson, by chance, used to work at the Ford dealership, so he called over and got some information over the telephone. On 09-27-10 (at 95K miles/currently has 101K), the truck's cooling system was repaired; EGR, head gasket, etc. I didn't get much more information than that. The Carfax shows the turbo was replaced about 10K before that. I'm not sure what else is on the OASIS.

As I said, the vehicle was meticulously cared for at the same Ford dealership, since the original and only owner took possession. The truck will have a 3 month/3000 mile warranty from the pre-owned dealership. The dealership is also giving me a "borrowers" contract this Thursday, so I can take it home and let the wife drive it around the neighborhood ... it's a beast! Crew cab with the long bed ... much bigger than my Dodge.

I wish I had the full OASIS, but I guess that's not going to happen. What do you think? Based on this, does anyone have any advice?

Oh, almost forgot photos!

oasis only covers warranty work, so only up to 100k miles... if you got up to 95k miles, I doubt there is much after that...

If you like it, buy it. Looks nice. CC/LB need big wheels/tires/lift to look right! haha.
