what is the best oil to run in my powerstroke 6.0
#22
I've heard of some guys using the DELO stuff, supposed to be good, but never tried it myself.
With oils, it's not like there is one specific oil I can tell you guys is the end all be all to oils. We all have different needs, different mods, live in different areas etc... so there can be more than one answer to this question.
As for the mileage, that's a widely debated topic. Karls03 on here is one that comes to mind who does more miles than most on changes, but he also does oil analysis to back it up. If I'm not mistaken he is also using the T5, which is Rotellas 10w-30 semi-synthetic if memory serves...
It is said that the 6.0 is a "high shearing" motor, meaning it cuts down the oil viscosity as it uses it, quite quickly. So an oil that was supposed to be 40 weight, may only be 30 weight at 5k miles. Hard to say. I change at 5k miles for my own reasons, mostly related to my alt fuel system.

I have been reading quite a bit about this rev-x additive. Is it really that good? Can anybody give me a link so that I can get some ordered to try. Oil change due next week and would like to see what difference it makes in my truck. I agree with Mdub707 that all of us guys drive different, live in different areas and use our trucks for different purposes but it seems most everybody is pretty pleased with this rev-x. Seeing as how diesels are not cheap to fix and these 6.0's already have some issues a little peace of mind is worth a little money
