how dense is the cloud and what temperature is it. remember the operating temp is what 190ish i believe. your engine is not out in the sun in 190 degree temperatures. its in the shade. much cooler and the cylinders are on the inside hence they're much colder. mine does it all the time til it warms up

Try it in reverse so you can get a better chance to smell it.

Sent from my Rooted Droid as I'm driving 70MPH down the road

Default 6.0 Powerstroke puff of white smoke on acceleration

I have a 2005 F250 6.0 Powerstroke having the same issue, just curios if it was ever solved. The truck has roughly a 188000 miles on it. Last month I had apr head studs with stock head gaskets installed, and a new oil cooler. The heads were decked and pressure checked. Other mods on the truck include an egr delete (installed in 2010), 4 inch straight pipe turbo back exhaust(installed in 2012), coolant filter from XDP (installed right after head studs), and tunes from innovative diesel(installed in 2012).

The issue is more noticeable when the truck is cold, but gets better once warmed up. Anytime I come to a stop and then accelerate there is a small puff of white smoke leaving the exhaust pipe. If I slowly press the throttle and ease into the acceleration there is no puff of white smoke. I have not had a chance to try and smell the exhaust but will do so this weekend. I have also ordered two bottles of rev-x which will be used with fresh oil next week. Last oil change was almost 3,000 miles ago. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes I finely figured out what was causing mine to smoke and it was a bad turbo seal leaking oil into my exhaust. Rebuilt turbo and has been fine for last few years.
